Rothstein needs better words. He needs the best words.

But I do agree with him that UCF has to be the early favorite next year.

disagree...
Im 100% fine with the media saying ucf is the favorite but IMO its houston
ucf has never been or even been on the bubble (was a low seed nit)..

houston lost "masses" according to rothstein but most of it were deep bench players, houston lost only 2 players of value..if we are honest most of the players that left were encouraged to leave.

It’s UCF, UH, or Cincy as favorites. UCF is going to be good, so not mad about Rothstein calling them favorites. They can definitely win the conference this season. Same goes for UH and Cincy (if Evans returns).
Memphis, UCONN, and ECU are the favorites.

Both our 247 guys switched their crystal balls for Harris from Baylor to Memphis last night. I have no idea if they know something, but they are saying Memphis now.

if you followed his social media it was obvious that he wanted memphis since forever...
when penny rumors were floating around he liked a large number of posts about memphis superteams, most of which he wasnt even tagged in..meaning he was searching for it (invested)

in his dream scenario lomax stays at wichita and he is the point of the memphis super team

if i had to guess id say memphis, the interview with his dad was a while ago..since then penny has personally visited them 4 or 5 times... penny wouldn't keep going back if he didn't feel it was likely ....i think he has sold them a dream on how it can work

I too use precisely 2 counting stats when measuring the impact a player will have

Yeah, that's prolly a good summation. Btw Pesik, I truly am impressed with how you stay on top of all things AAC in the media. Many of your posts save me some time. Thx for that. In this particular case, I think it comes down to a battle of wills - kid vs. Dad. For the kid's sake, I hope he ends up where he really wants to go.

Agree with most of this. The only point i'd make is that Tyler's dads last interview was about 10 days ago. Not ancient history. WTS, a lot can change in an 18 year olds mind in 10 days.
sounding more and more like Tyler Harris will be a Tiger.

Martin
Harris
Lomax
Brewton

That's a pretty good backcourt. Still need a couple of more bigs although those might have to wait until the 2019 monster class (Wiseman, Dandridge, C Lawson)

So I did some inquiring with my own guys. All of them are saying it's Memphis for Harris. Completely separate from 247. I don't depend on 247 for info, simply passing along what they said. But they do have connections in the AAU and HS community in Memphis.

Anyway, I'm not a recruiting guru at all, never really follow it, but I have friends who do, and they all believe it is Memphis now.

Dad wants Baylor, but MOM wants Memphis, and Tyler has made it clear even before Penny was hired that he wants to play in Memphis.

Guess we will know soon. Whatever the decision, it seems to have been made. None of this last minute change stuff, I would suspect.
Speaking of 2018 recruits...

Thanks AAA. I feel bad for down talking those guys. I'm sure they try hard, and it was years ago when I came across them when looking for info. I'm sure they've gotten better and made inroads since then. Just seeing some of the back and forth chest pounding and back patting on twitter is off putting...to me anyway. If you reaaally have inside info, all the after the fact hoopla is unecessary imo.
I think Cincinnati and Houston are the favorites. UConn is a wild card. I don't think the Wichita dropoff is going to be as drastic as some seem to think Marshall will have them in the mix.
Have the Ashley Judds started ****ting the bed yet?

I'd give Memphis the wildcard. Need to see who Hurley and staff recruit before making a decision.

Agree. I stay out of all that Twitter stuff. Too silly. Mainly a "gotcha, I got the scoop first" contest. Memphis 247 and TSR have an ongoing public battle about who has better info and when, and who steals from whom. They are fighting for subscriptions, which are driven almost exclusively by BB recruiting info.

Btw, I'm not guaranteeing anything. That's impossible with recruiting info. But yeah, my guys seem to think Tyler is picking Memphis now. We'll know Friday.
If we get Harris, what a turn around it would be. Tubby probably wouldn't have gotten Harris either, so to get him along with Lomax would be an incredible job by Penny.

Are those Grommit's eyes?
I just wanted to do a double check on open scholarships for 18-19. Let me know if any numbers are off.

UCF - 1 open scholarship (Is Dawkins on scholarship? Not sure about this one)

Cincy - 1 open scholarship (Will become 2 if Evans enters draft)

UConn - 3 open scholarships (Is Cobb still on the team? There aren't any current '18 commits, correct?)

ECU - 3 open scholarships

Houston - 2 open scholarships

Memphis - 4 open scholarships

USF - 3 open scholarships

SMU - 1 open scholarship (only 11 total for next year, correct?)

Temple - 2 open scholarships

Tulsa - 1 open scholarship

Tulane - 0 open scholarships (Will become 1 if Frazier leaves or if Crabtree doesn't sign)

Wichita State - 3 open scholarships
Correct at 3. Only Larrier has left thus far.
Memphis and UAB are renewing their home-and-home series, per a source. Next season's game will be at FedEx Forum, 19-20 at UAB.

The return game of the home-and-home series between Arizona and UConn will be held on 12/2/2018 at the XL Center in Hartford, per a source.
