99% chance he releases his aac preview/ranking tomorrow

i posted earlier that he started his preseason superlatives/rankings, if he follows the same order as last year we should be on monday....

he also like to align his podcast with the rankings, he had marquette on last week (and released his big east projections)..sampson on this week, almost certainly means we get his projections tomorrow
actually he already confirmed that on his twitter

Good call. I will be looking for it.

My guess, based on his past tweets, that he will designate UCF the top spot.

Apparently Donnie Jones is leaving after one year as an assistant. It's possible that he was pushed out by Marshall, or maybe he's close enough with Anthony Grant that he'd leave to coach under him.

Is this a good get for SMU? I’ve not heard of this guy, but also haven’t followed SMU recruiting.

He's seemed to fly under the radar as much as anyone could.

I thought SMU's next signing would definitely be a true PG but I guess that could come with their final scholarship for 18-19.
@GoodmanHoops

Wichita State assistant Donnie Jones will join Anthony Grant’s staff at Dayton, per source. Pair worked together on Billy Donovan’s staff for 10 years.

Trying to get a kid qualified but at this point I want to leave it open and try to snag a midyear kid

I expect Dayton’s defensive numbers to drop.

Mostly seemed like he was hired at WSU because of his familiarity with AAC teams and scouting. But yea, Marshall should be out looking for very defensive minded assistant.

Kevin Ollie aint busy... jk

I dunno, he has a lot of court dates set up while he's suing UCONN ...
Asking this as a recent UD grad/fan. How much did Donnie Jones effect WSU's recruiting? From what I have heard from fellow UD fans, they said that this was a recruiting move. Also, can anyone on the defensive problems? I am aware that the WSU defense dropped last season. I am just curious what my school just got into for better or worse. Thanks in advance!

Donnie is awful in both coaching and recruiting. I said this while he was at UCF and after Wichita hired him. Not good for Dayton.

I always heard that Donnie Jones had good recruiting connections but lacked some in terms of X’s and O’s. I figured that the latter wouldn’t be an issue given Marshall’s track record, but our defense dropped off the face of the earth last year. Part of that was definitely a result of us moving up to the American, but we’ll never know how much.

I’ve heard that the new group we have is more than capable of playing defense the way Marshall demands because of their athleticism, but may struggle scoring...which would be the polar opposite of last year.
Donnie Jones is a positive thinking, multi-level marketing chump disguised as a college basketball coach. Nice guy, but glad he’s someone else’s problem moving forward.

Wouldn’t be surprised at all if it was a mutual decision between both parties, but that is just speculation on my part.

Development kid gives some depth

I don't remember a single recruit that credited Donnie for the reason they came to WSU. Most all of them quoted Marshall as closing the deal.

Jank loved him but didn't really play AAU till this Spring and was debating prep. He's got a big frame, think Ben Emelogu, and can shoot. He's depth, end of the roster type for a year or two. Will be nice to get the full compliment of ships back. Lessens the burden on having a huge '19 class.

The McCullar to Houston talk on here was funny. He reclassified for Tech and the reason they dropped out on Keonte Kennedy. Houston was NEVER in it. No hotter program or coach in Texas than Beard and its not close
