As expected, Lomax committed to the Tigers this morning.
His presence - I hope - will help draw other high level recruits and transfers (grad transfers particularly) because of Lomax’s excellent play making skill.

Are you at all worried about his size?
I look @ Lomax's recruiting profile and it's basically identical to Justin Jenifer's out of high school...

He is listed at 6'0" but is actually about 5'10". He was MVP of the state HS Tourney (2 years in a row, I think) on a team with James Wiseman, Chandler Lawson and Malcolm Dandridge. He'll have some post up issues, but he is good enough overall to make up for that deficiency.

Lomax will be a solid PG. He might get picked on by bigger guards at times, but what he really needs to improve for college is his outside shooting. He can't just blow by and with his strong frame out physical guards in the college game like he did in HS. He will need to become a consistent outside shooter, not elite, but a consistent threat.
He has excellent playmaking skills. If he develops a consistent jumper watchout.

not sure i agree, jenifer was super flasy, in hs he looked like he had elite handles, crossing people up left and right and making flashy passes...
he was touted on skill (not winning or scoring)
lomax isnt flashy at all, his highlight reel wont blow you away... he is touted for being the floor general of extremely touted team.. he controls the game.. there are stars on his team, but the game goes through him not them...he is touted for winning, being a leader and good stats on loaded teams, better than many of his touted teammates
next year at memphis will be interesting,he has only ever played on dominant rosters...the stars arent coming to memphis till earliest 2019. we'll find out if he is a great facilitator of great talent and nothing without the talent...or great talent was holding him back because he didn't need to put up big numbers

As much as I hate to say it due to him not coming to WSU anymore, I thought of him very similarly to Fred Van Vleet. From my perspective, that’s a huge compliment to ALo, as I consider FVV one of the best college point guards I’ve ever watched.

Agreed. I didn't think Lomax was a world-beater but thought he would be great in the right system. Seemed to match perfect with Marshall's system.

Fair points, I just making the comparison based on size, recruiting rankings and quality of offers.
From watching Jenifer, he is a liability in the half court due to his size (and the fact he isn't a consistent shooter) so he isn't really effective in UC's system. Who knows if he would be better in an open court style.
Also, FYI, Jenifer won a state title in high school as well. So it's not like his high school profile was barren.

The biggest concern for me is that he’s moving from a system with highly talented bigs (Wiseman, Lawson, Dandridge) to one where the best player is a guard and the second best is a wing (Davenport). We have a serviceable, above average big in Parks but not dominate. 2019 could be more of what ALO is accustomed to leading. Should be interesting....

Agreed, he's used to having a HUGE talent gap between his team and the others.
all things said and done...if in 2019 memphis makes the final 4....
there is going to eventually be a dope 30 for 30 called "team penny"
they played together under penny since middle school and penny best friend who died planned all of this a decade ago exacty how everythng is happening

Tacko Fall is returning to UCF next season, per a source. Will not test NBA Draft waters.
Wow!! That surprises me more than any of the guys that are declaring. I didn’t fully expect him to go, but thought he would at least test the waters. Isn’t he going to be a senior next year?

Yep. Everyone is a senior next year. And they only lose AJ Davis. If there ever was a year for UCF to win the American, next season is it.
