How do you know this?

He was seated next to my neighbor on the flight down there

Yes, and he's not traveling alone. I'm expecting them to make an announcement prior to xmas.
So, would we be satisfied with a FAU look alike? I would.
I like the planned stadium that we have after Phase 2 is done. Its much nicer than FAU's. Phase 1 really doesnt do much for me though
I don't like FAU's, but beggars cant be choosers.
FAUs stadium would be OK if we put some type of brick on the back of it to close in the exposed erector set. In my opinion, their place looks fine from the inside, but crappy from the outside. I like their tall press box and suites. That would look impressive from Hampton Blvd. I think it would be cool to make the west side a bit taller than the east too so you could see even more of it from the road, and make an even greater impression. Also important IMO are adding suites, a nice scoreboard and getting rid of the crappy student end zone. I'd love to see something like a hall of fame on the ground floor for people to walk through and show recruits too.

Lane Kiffin to ODU?

Wood Selig to FAU?
I been to four games at FAU, I really like the spacious of the rows and the bench backs. Agree with a brick facade would have a look nice to it and fitting for ODU. I was surprised by how loud it can get with stomping. Thats with a small crowd, ODU could light it up on 3rd downs. They did have beer sales, so that helped my opinion making process. I'm planning to go to the Boca Bowl again this year.
Perhaps I’m in the minority, but I believe the exterior is where we should skimp to get better size or luxury boxes. I’ve been to several major college venues (Big 10, PAC 12, ACC). I could honestly say I didn’t know what the exteriors looked like until I saw them with my own eyes. Television only covers the interior. Beaver Stadium is an erector set (think Dover Speedway), but nobody knows it. Why spend money on a nice facade when that money could be spent on added revenue streams (capacity, boxes, party decks, etc)? Just my 2 cents. Back to obscurity...
Not an unreasonable approach.
I wonder what we could add in phase 1 if we abandoned the exterior bells and whistles until later.

I am not a fan of this approach but agree 100% that it's the right approach for us. I think the exterior of the Game Day building would give the TV cameras enough ammo to create the illusion of a great building.

Heard Jimmy Chestnut and Joey Saltwater aka Freshwaters cousins would love it here 05-stirthepot We just need a cool million to make it happen.

Hahaha I forgot he is Joey Saltwater now that he is on the beach. I also heard he is taking Ron Mexico along to help make the pitch.

This a 1000 times this. We can always go back and pimp the outside of Foreman 2.0 to make it look nice. The inside is what matters right now.
A somewhat disappointing update to the new stadium progress, if you ask me. Lots of changes: https://pilotonline.com/sports/college/o...6738e.html

Yeah, pretty sad. What is the point? Same capacity and cheaper construction. Sounds like we are spening $56M for bathroom capacity and an erector set.
I'm getting less and less excited about this stadium every time I hear something new about it. We should at least be getting a new video/scoreboard since they are saving so much money and time.

From the article

>DuBois stressed that fan comfort was ODU's primary concern with every decision.

>New restrooms and concessions stands will be located on the ground level and not on on the concourse choices, expected to save money and construction time.

>ODU had proposed installing individual chairback seats similar to those at the Constant Center on the east and west sides. DuBois said some seats will be chairback, but others could be molded seats with back supports

Wow very comforting. What a waste of money on the Populous report. Just sell the stadium rights to SB Ballard. He will do a better job than this.
Why spend all that money for new bathrooms and concession stands? I care not one iota about either of those things. Won't make my gameday experience better in the slightest. I want more seats, better video board, and better stadium design (closer to action, hold in noise, etc.). If this is the final product we should just save the money and build a practice facility or something.

I’m starting to feel the same way. If we can’t build a nice high quality stadium that is among the nicest in the G5 when it opens I don’t see the point. Blowing $55 million on some bathrooms, concession stands and legroom is a waste. We have one chance to make this right and reap the exposure, recruiting benefits, fan excitement and donations that come with it. One chance to make a good first impression. If it doesn’t at least equal what JMU and Liberty eventually have them there really is no point. Either act like an FBS team or drop back to FCS. I’m getting the feeling we are building the Seigle Center of football stadiums. Every article that comes out makes it sound worse.
