Yeah, that's it! It's easy, only need to raise $155 million !
We did 11 in 1 year. 13 more years to go.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.
I think this is an important enough issue, not just for athletics but the school as a whole -- and the potential damage to credibility -- that I would very much like to see a message sent to the community, whether ODAF or through Minium, about what the hell happened to get us to this point. Why did we start where we started and how did it fall apart. And it should come from Broderick and it should be honest. Having said that, I'd bet money that Broderick would pass it off to Selig, which would be a mistake. It's important enough to enough people that it should receive the highest priority.

And answer some of these questions, definitively:

Why couldn't we consider Ballard's offer (I think I know the answer, but want to hear it from the horse's mouth)
When are final plans going to be released to the public?
Why can't we supplement the $55 million with additional money we've raised?
Is that an option to put classrooms, offices etc., in the stadium in order to make a pitch for some state money?

Maybe people on here have definitive answers to these questions, not speculation based on personal biases. THAT's what I want to hear. Tired of conjecture.
I was looking at some other stadiums yesterday just for fun.

South Dakota State's Dana J. Dykehouse Stadium is pretty much our phase 1 and nearly at the budget planned for. Had they not spent so much time on studying the "water front" nonsense, it would be done.

Broke Ground 2014
Opened 2016
Cost: $65 Million

At this point I would be happy with any news. I have lost all faith in the ODU admin on this matter. It has been almost 5 years since they made the first announcement. 5 years of wasted money, time, no communication with the fans and donors, over promising and under delivering, small time, no leadership, running in circles. It would be a miracle if we ever get a decent stadium at this point.

Hey at least is a plan, something ODU cant seem to come up with.
And if what you say becomes reality, then heads should roll -- starting with Broderick.

Ok, just curious.... Is that pronounced Dick-House or Dike-House. Asking for a friend.

No communication in 5 years? And just where do you think Harry is getting all of this information?

HM gets some snippets from ODU and puts it into an article with a lot of his own opinion. Right now we are less than one year from construction and have fallen back to basic decisions about the stadium shape, look and materials. ODU wasted time with populous because now they are not even going with Populous design (hence why they went to check out FAU's stadium). Dont even waste your breath or time trying to defend ODU on this matter. They have done a pathetic job and deserve no credit.

Look, I'm not happy with the recent stadium news either. Or the fact that we waited so long.

But words matter.

You cant claim they aren't communicating, when after every step and change in the project they give that information directly to Harry to disseminate to the fans.

If anything, it can be argued that they communicate too much. Had Wood not put a beautiful waterfront stadium in everyone's minds and instead waited until the stadium plan was finalized to announce what we're actually getting, many wouldn't feel as down as they do about the project.

ODU is not using Harry as their direct communication person to the fans. If it was not for HM asking for the information we would never know what is going on with the stadium except for like once a year when ODU has to tell the fans something. My point is, we are less than a year out and not even Harry knows what the hell is going on.

What are you talking about? They give Harry direct information on the project, he publishes it and promotes it. That is the exact definition of a mouthpiece.

And Harry does know what's going on, as he told us a couple weeks ago. They are reworking the new stadium design to fit their financial constraints. It's being modeled after FAUs stadium due to the cheaper cost of construction. It will be pretty much the same size as our current stadium. When the design is final, they'll do a presentation and officially break ground.

Destroy them for their lack of foresight concerning Cox. Destroy them for their lack of fight against that bill. Destroy them for not getting this stadium grandfathered in. Destroy them for not starting the process long before we got a call from CUSA.

But don't make complaints up that that they arent communicating when we have received updates every time a major update has happened.
Is the timeline still on for Demo after the final game of 2018?
And aren't they supposed to be doing some of the preliminary work now? Burying lines and things like that?

Also, I saw where ODAF raised $10 million last year. Hopefully we will get a decent portion of the $40 million coming through the capital campaign this year too. Why can't that money be used in stadium phase 1? They hinted earlier that it could. I have to believe we could get a nice stadium built for $70 million. FAU, UCF, JMU have all done so with that much or less recently. If we spent the $10 million and got $5 million of the capital campaign now to add to the $55m, theres your $70 million right there.

Regardless of HM and communication, how do you feel about ODU retracting everything that they initial promised. Constantly over promising and under delivering. Its an absolute joke. First it was 35k, then waterfront, then back to Foreman field, only 22k but really nice, now we are at a 20k erector set. Absolute joke.

It is pretty much like ours if you take away the nice scoreboard, the endzone seats, the press box, and the suites.
How would everyone feel about the school spending all $55 Million on replacing the home side stands only. Even though I have no experience in constructing stadiums, I would think that $55 Million could easily pay for the replacement of the home sides stands as well as include two levels of suites and press boxes. If cost is the driving factor here, it would be a no brainer to even the least versed in finance and marketing to appeal to the two groups that will push the success of the stadium; those being the high dollar donors and the media. If you want seat backs and more room, up your donation to the home side, if that's not important to you then you get tickets on the visitor side. I'm almost certain that we could also replace and relocate the score board to above the end zone stands within the initial $55Million. Thoughts?
Though it would be ideal, if the current structure is in dire straights as some suggest, doing one side at a time isn't really possible.
