Dollar Tree, HII-NNS, Armada Hoffler, and NS are the only ones with that kinda bank to roll us $25M. UAB is in a huge Corporate and rich Alumni environment to secure that type of Donation. ODU...not so much.

Well, NS wont be doing much any more. AH probably wouldnt team up with Ballard, so that leaves Dollar Tree, which hasn't been too keen on supporting higher ed from what I can recall. So that begs the question... in a time where the government is pulling back on resources for colleges (especially athletics) and the private sector is required to have nice things, can ODU keep up with its peers while being located in an area losing corporate dollars rather than growing them? Alumni will have to step up, but without a law or medical school (in addition to a stronger emphasis on first generation students) we need corporate dollars more than ever.

Dollar Tree has donated, but not with the Dollar Tree name. Brock Commons is named for the former CEO Macon Brock through a $1 million dollar donation. (Even though it was Joan that was working towards a Masters in Humanities at ODU) I know he and his wife Joan also donated to their alma maters - Longwood and Randolph Macon. I wouldn't say it's completely out of the question, but probably unlikely. Also, I don;t know much about the current CEO Gary Philbin or if Joan Brock still has any say.

This...I hope people at the Admin. level are thinking strategically.
HII-NNS will NEVER put up that kind of money for naming rights. HII-NNS (my employer) is the largest employer is the country of ODU grads. But naming rights are for advertising to increase sales. 1) VERY few people can afford a $9+Billion nuclear aircraft carrier, or a $multi+Billion attack submarine. Heck very few countries can. So there will be no naming rights donations from them. 2) But even more precisely, nearly all advertising costs are not an allowable cost by the government. By that I mean we cannot charge the government costs to a contract (ship) for advertising. So since that is a cost that would come straight out of the bottom line, NOPE, NADA, NO WAY, a NON STARTER.

Interesting perspective for a Fortune 500 company. What about helping, being a good neighbor, and investing in the region ? You are correct advertising costs are not allowed on Government contracts, but profits from the products and services that HII-NNS provides are allowed to be used for sponsorships and marketing. Like you said ODU and HII-NNS have a strong partnership to provide trained workforce so the yard can be successful now and in the future.
Camera #1 has been down for a day now. Can't get my East Side fix as easily, haha
Use the West side lower camera and pan to the left.

That's what I was doing, but camera 1 seems to be back up now.
Halfway mark

Is this the first time we've gotten a rendering of what the most updated final product will look like?

For the budget we had, this is amazing!

That picture does a good job of showing just how on top of the field every seat will be. This is going to be like the Ted in that there really isn't a bad seat in the house. And loud. Very loud.

I cant wait til this is done and then a new north endzone and possible a south endzone rebuild 30 years down the road. This stadium is going to be awesome when she is finally finished.
So lights will be put on top of the suites/press box.

What am I seeing on top of the building on the visitor side?

Nothing. Just an optical illusion based on lack of depth perception.

Is that a new logo in the middle of the field??
Does anyone know if they plan to put new home locker rooms under the new north end zone? Ive read the current ones under the GDB are too small for an FBS sized team.

As far as the stadium plan is now, other than the obvious north end zone and home side suites, the only things I might have done differently are extend the concourse at the top of the home side all the across so people could stand up there and possibly get concessions there. Also make the press box look nicer. Other than that, its a pretty nice job considering the anti-ODU bill the state threw on us. It should look quite good with the new end zone and scoreboard, when that happens.
