I kind of think Lane looks old and dirty.

Ya, it's got the neo-Gothic style they go for with the stone color. It kind of looks Colosseum from that image angle.

I do not expect to have a Phase lol anything time soon.
Betting 10 years if at all.
Maybe a couple of upgrades here and there but no major Phase ll for a long time.

Agree, if for no other reason than nothing happens fast. It would be five years if they were getting started on the process right now.

I agree that we're about ten years away from the complete Foreman experience, but I still think Phase II will be split into two separate phases. By the looks of the new renderings, we're getting an upper deck on both sides in the first phase. I'm nowhere near a construction/engineering expert, but I'm thinking ODU can tear down the end zone seats and construct the lower level to be a connecting lower-level bowl. Phase III can add/connect the second level and address any other missing elements (e.g., the coveted big video screen atop the Gameday Building) the first two phases missed.

If my theory plays out, Phase II could happen in five years.
I dunno. The sheer fact this was done w/ no fee's or state funds modes well for future. But ya... nothing happens fast unless a big donor rolls in.

Ya, I could see 10 years. Maybe sooner or later a bit. But that's a good goal to have.

Most football stadiums are pretty ugly on the exterior.

Check out MM Roberts. That thing looks like a gem on TV but it looks like a dump from outside.

Gameday environment, TV presentation and fan enjoyment is what matters the most.
Is there and Open concourse between the lower and upper deck?

"The mezzanine-level concourse, a 30-foot-deep deck, will ring the east and west lower bowls, providing views of both the field and concourse level below. The public mezzanine will also have social places for fans to mingle and allow for concession kiosks within direct view of the field."

I think so, yes
Yup! I would imagine those would be connected once the end zone is re-done as well.

It’s like expecting to get an Audi but instead getting a Hyundai, still appreciate that I have it but a little sad I could’nt do better. Agreed that the admin drug their feet on getting this done and in the end had to pay way more to cover our expenses. Where oh where are the ODU mega donors who could beef up our budget? I bet there had to be atleast one who said no after they wouldnt change the name of the stadium.

Maybe they can name the scoreboard after a donor. That needs to happen soon. Im also surprised that it looks like theres a small upper deck in the renderings. I think that will look cool.

They have sponsorships on each step at Foreman Field now. I'd have to say that's good marketing because you definitely have to watch your steps when walking up and down lol.
I'm excited for the new stadium but admittedly disap9ointed to know we'll still have the same crap scoreboard.

In that image, it looks like they have Bluestone shut down for tailgating. That would be awesome.

Yep, it said that in there as well. Eventually it will connect to the north and (somehow) the south endzones

Butts in the stands might have an impact on it. If attendance falls they might not see a need for a phase II. NOW, if they really sell out every game and someone comes up with a lot of cabbage it could happen sooner. Just my 2 cents.

First design was better. We cant ever have nice things

Yeah, I just compared the first rendering with this, and the first one was nicer. But this isn't too bad. Just less brick and more erector set exposed. I hear ya about ODU not being able to have nice things though. Its a shame the admin didnt do this two years ago like they should have. It would have been in before the anti-ODU bill was passed and a lot cheaper. I hate to think what we would have gotten for 20% less.

When you say first design, do you mean Ballard's proposal or the one from the study?
That looks really cool! This is a process guys...

I was referring to the Populous design that they supposedly were pursuing. Not Ballards.

I can take exposed underside if it's concrete. That's the way ECU's stadium is and it's fine. What I don't want and you can't tell materials from the renderings is aluminum construction like FAU's stadium, Richmond International Raceway, and our current endzone. The aluminum looks cheap and has a weird sound coming off of it. And if you are walking underneath it, it's disgusting when people above spill their beverages and it drips down through the gaps.

Has to be concrete. Unfortunately with the extremely aggressive construction schedule, I get the gut feel that it's all aluminum decking. Hope I'm wrong.03-puke
