We need a lot of help on special teams, so this is good to see

Not that we don’t need a punter, but was hoping it was a bigger fish

The punter is the lure to get their kicker. 17/18 for the season with his only miss from 51 yards (in a game he made a 56).

You recruit high school kids hoping their talents translate to the next level and go from contributor to starter to all conference level. This kid is already proven at this level, been all conference twice and has 2 years of eligibility remaining. A punter might not be a headline move, but this one certainly is worthy of a boom!

Agreed, and a strong punter can have a huge impact on a game. Combined with our strong defense, the punters we've had have meant a lot to our teams lately.

Great player. I live in Louisa and have seen him play a couple times. Word is that he may transfer to IMG in Florida or a school in the DMV areas.

One of he worst aspects of the transfer portal is it's going to spoil us with instant gratification. Now it seems offers to kids in the class of 2024 is so far away and they're going to change their minds a hundred times, hard to get excited if they even express interest.

Yikes.

Always bugs me when I see recruits say “university of James madison”

Immediate red flag to me that they aren’t that invested or interested in us.
Just want to be clear that I support mocking a 17 year old's inability to name the school they are going to (even though he didn't create the graphic) but I don't put that to the same level as calling them dirtbags bc they decommit to go to their dream P5 school (even though they don't know the name of their dream school).
100% Committed?

Call me crazy, but I'd hope you'd know the name of your dream school.

My personal fave Virginia Tech University.
I didn't quite understand how VT got included in this whole thing. He said Clemson was his dream school, got the offer, ended his 100% commitment and then said he was torn between his dream school and VT. That's the part that was really strange to me. The only people surprised were Tech fans.
Good for him. He went to his dream school. But dude, at least know the name of your dream school! haha

Its a pretty low bar to hit. I like when a name that clearly ends in "University" gets an additional "college" added. At a JMU party a decade ago, a guy said he played bball at EMU college. Its worth double points if actively enrolled in the school and still not knowing the name.

It seems completely appropriate that there’s a “Deaf Valley” joke in here somewhere just to circle Gallaudet back into this discussion.
I may be wrong; the young man may end up all-world. However, Clemson is loaded with 4-5 star guys. Advertising yourself as “3 star” on your commitment to the University of Clempson seems underwhelming. So, I am back to my original question: Will JMU offer him again once he hits the portal?

Edit: doing a little research, and he is actually their first RB commit. I have no idea about the Univ of Clempson RB depth chart though.
