Since you also said “highest rated” I thought the actual ratings would be relevant. Since JMUs almost entire recruiting history would be from outside the FBS I wouldn’t expect the former recruits to be P5 level. Therefore, most recruits moving forward will outrank those from the past.

Honestly those are the guys I worry about more. With the guys that already chose us over some P5 offers, they obviously aren't going to jump at just any bigger offer that comes along. But if we're a verbal commit's clear best offer, I'm more worried that he might jump ship as soon as a "better" offer comes along.
Like that Clemson kid, except in Chase Regan's case, I think he is committed fully, especially since it seems a lot of the central PA folks are joining in because of the others. Also he might be acting a bit of #AgentRegan in adding to the Erby's desire to be here. If all the central PA kids said they'd all committ to JMU and now a couple of them do it, that might become a tidal wave of commits. Hard commits too.

said in an interview that he wanted Villanova to offer Nevan Hopkins so they could play together earlier in June. Then Nevan was tweeting a bunch of JMU stuff including how he had an "AMAZING time at JMU" and

Hawkins - No P5 offers

5 or 6 P5 offers > 1 or no P5 offers.
Just jumping in out of nowhere here, but I think there's too much nuance to this discussion to look at it that dualistically. Sure, in a vacuum I definitely would rather have recruits who chose us over a slew of P5 offers. But after being the big fish in a small, depressing pond, we proved that FBS level recruits don't all need impressive offers...other than JMU.

Once these guys have played their senior seasons, everything changes. The portal has made it imperative that guys commit early, but nothing is binding. Look at the kid last year who flipped to Clemson at the last minute. It's great to get commits this early, but there's a whole lot still to unfold.

Based on the results of this coaching staff, not sure how JMU would not be a top option for a QB. They have transformed every QB coming in. Every single QB has improved year by year with them.
