IU has also had massive portal turnover. I think they had close to 30 enter.

If the JMU commits want to follow the coaches who recruited them, I have no ill will. Relationships matter, no matter how much they may have liked JMU. And with all of the turnover at IU, playing time is probably something on the table too. Oh yeah, and the chance to play in the Big 10.

How many of our HS were offered by IU since he took the job?
Exactly, given the short window to get in there and fill in the many holes after the mass exodus in the portal and not knowing and of their previous commits, they chose to chase the top of our class that they've developed strong relationships with. What made JMU good was having an eye for talent and getting a higher caliber recruit in here than our peers, seems HCBC did the same at Holy Cross. Now if Indiana wants to keep chasing SBC recruits going forward then they are going to remain basement dwellers in the Big10.
Since 2014 the Dukes have only had a HS recruited QB at the helm only 1.5 seasons. We have had a great deal of success since 2014. Getting a highly recruited HS QB is really not that important especially with the Portal. Odds are that if you get a really good QB out of HS he won't be around for 3 or 4 years anyway.

I'm guessing that you are only counting Cole Johnson in Spring 21 (the half?) and Fall 2021? Schor spent a season at JUCO but his path was more in line with a HS recruit (e.g., Cole) than a transfer (e.g., DiNucci, McCloud, etc.). Admittedly, that clarification doesn't really change the story nor do I even disagree with your point.

Even if they don't become a future multi year starter, I think a home grown HS recruit can still have a lot of value. Someone has to be here to compete against the portal QB and most transfer QBs aren't going to a place to compete against another transfer. Also, a backup with a couple years under the offense can be huge if there is an injury to the plug and play portal QB. Lastly, you have to remember the possibility of the Connor Mitch's type outcomes and you could be hung out to dry if you don't have that homegrown QB to step up.

All that to say, the 3 QBs at the Heisman ceremony were all transfers.

Yes the half. I agree on Schor but he was technically a transfer and I don't believe was recruited by JMU out of HS.
inside baseball = inner workings

He's watching Cig and co going down the list trying to flip guys and getting IU visits.

We'll probably lose a few that way. We'll be ok, but may be a battle to keep the incoming class intact. IU has something like 25 in the portal themselves, and it actually grew after Cig got hired.
Nothing new. Dude just hasn't seen one of these before. People were reacting the same way after Withers left and again after Houston left. World continues to spin.
It seems perfectly reasonable for Chez to backfill with transfers instead of trying to recruit a high school kid in 2 weeks. If he were coming from a P4, sure, bring some guys if you can but the type of freshman he's recruiting at HC is not what he'd recruit with JMUs resources.

That's what I'm thinking as well.

He has tweets implying we are going to lose "most" of our class, yet also tweeting that only 4 guys have offers from IU. Not sure what he knows that turns 4 (or even the 6 total that decommitted) into "most" of a class of 20 guys.
I don’t think Hofer has any real clue. His tweets and replies reek of someone that wants to be viewed as an insider.
All you have to do is look at who he 'works' for.
In terms of credible sources, I would put them towards the bottom. I think most of the people here are more connected than they are.
They love to stoke fear in the fan base, so I am not even remotely surprised now.
I cannot recall them ever actually being the first to actually post NEWS. If this came from Mettlen, I would be far more concerned.
He’s part of the JMU Sports News outfit. I have been very uneasy about that account because I don’t know how much credibility he actually has and depending on his interactions could get JMU in trouble.

Is that rule still in place where a donor or other interested party cannot reach out to recruits. Also a handle that blurs the line for an official recruiting account, which JMU has @JMUFBRecruiting, increases these issues.

Mettlen can reach out to a recruit because he is a beat writer for the DNR. Madia can because he is a beat writer for the Daily Progress. However, a blog publication called “JMU Sports News” that solely follows a university whose athletic website is JMUSports.com and multimedia rights holder’s name is JMU Sports Properties gets questionable.

Maybe it’s just their lack of originality in branding but if I were JMU, I’d keep an eye on them both IP and compliance wise.
That's too bad on Mendoza because he was a good-looking prospect in the little tape I watched of him. Thought DD also said they were bringing in Ohio QB for a visit.

Chesney has his hands full right now with all that's on his plate.

We can't really assess where things stand until the dust settles in early January and we have to stay patient and positive.
Ndukwe to IU

Boyd visiting IU…

If Boyd goes and joins Cignetti, I really hope that Keelan Flowe kid gets the start this year as a true freshman a safety and lights up the Sun Belt.
I wonder if Sluka is waiting to see what McCloud does. Schools I've heard that have interest in Sluka are LSU, Arkansas, and Nebraska.
Believe all 6 visited this past weekend.

Schor was recruited and offered by Miami-Ohio. Brian had thought he had conveyed to them he was all in (and closed down all other recruiting). Then their coach got fired and the new coach ghosted him. Then when it was too late, they finally conveyed that there was no room for him. So he went the JuCo route and participated in Spring ball. He never actually played at the JuCo school though, as we got him into JMU over the summer.
