Very nice writeup by them! Darold Dengohe really intrigues me, really good size and athleticism to hold down the middle. Like the note that he can get up and down the LOS to make outside tackles, reminds me Greene, Ukwu, or Kamara being all over the field. I think he was the one that we beat out Cincy as well as a couple of Big TENs (like a Rutgers or NU).
Huge junior day today.

We got about a billion offers out to some top guys.

Hope they like what they saw today

Hope we can get a commit out of one of these past two days, in addition to the one they held in February. It's still early in the cycle, but getting a decent 3 star to commit now could start springing momentum for what we need to be a big/strong class.

Plus from a few of the posts, some of them are looking at going to the same place, so some could be a 2-for-1. Sway one of them enough and you get to great recruits.

Looks like there were a TON of guys there and they took a LOT of pictures. Our recruiting game is getting better and better. Doesn't hurt having Twitter/Insta absolutely flooded with pictures of these dudes in the purple and gold.

Quote:Just a month after being crowned 1A football state champions, the Erby brothers got their biggest college offer yet.

Penn State offered Alex, a 6-4 junior three star quarterback, and Andrew, a three start offensive and defensive lineman on Friday morning. The brothers, coached by their father Andrew Erby Sr., won their second state championship together in a 22-8 win over Union, and the program’s fourth in the last 15 years.

For Alex, it’s his 12th offer, with Big Ten schools Nebraska, Maryland and Minnesota already offering along with local schools Pitt and Temple. For Andrew, it’s his 10th offer, with many of the same schools offering both of the brothers together.

Alex Erby back in the Burg for the second time this year. Whether or not we get him and his brother, it’s great to still be in the race given their scholarship offer lists.

July 14th is the day he’ll be announcing his commitment.

I think a 2-for-1 with the Erby brothers would be a great fit. Two solid recruits with big offers coming from a good, albeit smaller program, from a great recruiting area. We also have a 2023 recruit (Riley Robell from Bishop McDevitt) coming from the Harrisburg, PA, area which is an easy ride down. I-81.

I've heard they are likely a package deal. Would assume with the 2 trips this year (believe he made one back in the fall as well) that we likely sit in his top 5 with PSU, Pitt, UMD, and maybe Temple.
Not to hijack this thread, but they’re headed to Temple tomorrow, God bless anyone that would go to school in that immediate area. Given what just happened there, I wouldn’t be sending my family member there on a visit. Trying to find the picture I saw when I saw the initial story, it had their facility in the background and I wondered if they’d use that in their recruiting efforts. 07-coffee3

Thanks for the follow, but 2 of the now 2172 posts scattered over this 109 page thread are not going to crash the site. 03-shhhh
How many people have been to Temple on athletic visits over the years? Thousands? Tens of thousands? They seem to have been fine and many have had a good time.

Back on topic, the Erby brothers were back on campus yesterday. I don't want to get my hopes up but they seem to be genuinely interested in us.
And why shouldn't they be interested? JMU is a great school, has great facilities, awesome fan support, and a beautiful location. The success last year may have opened some eyes, and hopefully we can take advantage of that.

We're competing with some of the bigger PA schools for them as well. They seem like smart kids by taking the time truly assess all of their options, and what each one would mean. Getting the Erby brothers would be a HUGE start to the Class of 2024. However, I am not a fan of them setting their announcement for their commitment so far out. That could either mean that they've got a hunch that another set of offers is coming, or they are trying to decide between a few schools that they have already narrowed down.
Considering they both have offers from Penn State, it would be the biggest coup d'etat in JMU recruiting if we pulled it off. I am highly doubtful we are in the running but cool that we are getting visits from guys of that caliber now.

Sounds like multiple visits, and I think only one can be an "official ? Must be some real interest if they keep coming back.
They must be working the very-true pitch of "sit for one year here, or three years in the BIG" ...

Agree. To add to that, in today's Portal world of guys moving around to find playing time, perhaps they're considering a school where they feel more confident that BOTH brothers could get onto the field as starters. The depth of talent at a school like PSU makes that more challenging.
Offer made to an App. State OL in the port with a feeling of “can’t beat ‘em join ‘em”.
