Those zombie mofo's could sprint full speed and climb stuff, work together to try to turn cars over etc. Kind Walking Dead would have incorporated that in the story more. They just seemed much more dangerous.

The zombies have evolved in this series to become the slow-type zombies. In the first season, one zombie was much more dangerous, particularly when Rick, Glenn, Andrea, T-Dog, Jackie, the Mexican guy, and Merle were stuck in the store. When it pans to the glass doors, one zombie is actually using a brick-like object to try to break the glass. Later, when Glenn and Rick are running from the zombies after the entrails wash off from the rain, they hop a fence to try to reach the truck. One zombie hops the fence behind them, and Glenn, expecting it, shoots him and keeps running.

I noticed that as well. I think that they put a lot of thought into the "Walkers" and that they actually plan on having them "devolve" as they rot... hopefully that makes sense. LOL

It does. The brain would continue to break down and decay. If the virus/bacteria/fungus/whatever has control of the brain, it would have control over less and less over time. Makes sense, but it somewhat goes against the "it only controls the brainstem" part of the story from the CDC.
Here is what I am curious about, this guy who has the backpack has survived a year without being eaten but just because Rick and Crew pass him by he is then eaten 3 maybe 4 hours later? Anyone still alive at that point has to know what he is doing and most of the weak links are going to be gone. I know it was symbolism and all that but to survive a year I just don't see that guy getting eaten on the side of the road, that pretty much indicates he just turned around and ran back in a straight line.

He seemed pretty desperate. My thought was that maybe the herd that swarmed the car might have gotten the rest of his group. That is why he was so desperate to join another group. Without the rest of his group, he was a sitting duck.

I thought pretty much the same......except with al the screaming & yelling he did would draw in more walkers. Hitchiker guy was not smart by making all the extra noise. No way he survived by himself that long.
I said the same thing watching. He looked awful clean also. Was obvious not a key figure in whatever group he was with and with all the screaming and walking with pots clanking he hadn't been out there long.
I'm sure that there will be something about his backstory on either the show or one of the webisodes (go to AMC's official site).

I'm still really interested to find out what happens to Merle; does Glenn or Michonne off him once the Governor is dispatched? Furthermore, will the Gov be dispatched this season or next?

The show ain't done with Morgan. He might wind up being the one who saves the day for all I know.

I'm guessing the governor will be killed in the last episode of the season.

No, it'll be the episode before the last episode of the season, like Shane in season 2.

i agree. also, the new show runner, Scott Gimple, wrote that episode.
I think Slow zombies are what make zombies. They are the irresistable force. Vampires, werewolves, etc. are supposed to be fast, vicious killers. Mummies and zombies just keep coming. Forever.
The guy is right, the zombie's in season one were a lot quicker, could climb stuff and used bricks to break windows.

The guy? I feel so loved...
I thought the zombies sitting around the coffie shop was dumb. shouldnt they have been walking around looking for a next meal? did they become zombies & then think all that walking was a bit much.....ill take a seat until somone makes a noise & i can eat them?

They were patient zombies, still waiting for the waiter to bring the appetizers.

That's a good point. Also... I know they don't eat their own apparently. But when in a confined space like that I don't see why they wouldn't eventually. I had two opossums stuck in my trashcan one night and the next morning one ate the other. Seems like if their basic of life functions is eat/survive that would take over eventually. But then if that were the case they wouldn't have had that scene.

In the comics, the term "Zombie" is never used; I think that the same can be said for the TV series. In the comics, they use the terms "Walkers" (for the ones who shamble towards you, mouth agape) and "Lurkers" (for the ones who lie in wait until alerted to your presence... and then they come at you, mouth agape LOL). I BELIEVE (although I could be wrong) that the term "Sprinters" is also used for the ones who come running at you. I could be wrong about that.

All kidding aside, we can't explain how the dead could come back. However, it would make sense to me (LOL) that the "Lurkers" were the ones who had been dead longer and thus, needed to preserve energy while waiting for a time to strike. That makes sense 03-drunk

It was mentioned at some point in the series (maybe the CDC) that the walkers can starve "to death" so this theory makes sense.

There have been lurkers for the entire series. In Atlanta there were those who were dormant on the bus until Rick and the horse went by. They were also shown when the group was stuck on the highway and a couple of lurkers were sitting in cars. Hell, the one that got Herschel was a lurker.

They've been around and aren't new.
I wonder if there's a point where they decompose and they just rot away.

I know....i also forgot about the church zombies whose service & prayer time was interupted by Rick & the gang.
