using a ship on him IMO is a firm stance that the UCF's staff is 100% getting behind Darius Johnson, and not bringing in competition ..and found someone who would accept being a backup pg
there is nothing Young does that i think would translate to the aac.. his main skills are scoring as a driver and rebounding .. neither of which i think will translate to the AAC with any regularity at 6'2
statistically poor shooter, relatively low assist numbers for a pg especially coming from juco..
there are still tons of noteable pg in the portal, no one major was recruiting this guy.. this has a feel of i want it known to the team that johnson is the pg entering the 1st practice, lets not waste time reaching for big recruits when i like what i have but we still need more than 1 pg on roster

Good deal. Seems like a nice pickup.
And to think, a few weeks ago, you guys thought you had no basketball team left. Good work to get it together.

this could be a legit move for tulsa
jaxson robinson... 6'6 sharpshooter (with a longwing span) former top 70 recruit that has 3 years eligibility
is from Oklahoma.. .will need a waiver, but imo thats a good thing as it makes him more realistic for tulsa to land
a 2021 elite recruit that reclassed last minute to 2020 to go to a&m, didnt get pt as true fresh, transfered to Arkansas before getting buried under top transfers again
nothing to lose for tulsa, you wont be good either way, so the waiver decision isnt that impactful.. and you can start building up for 2023

Walton was a pretty big target for UC in the fall before they got a commitment from Josh Reed (or maybe Walton committed to MSU before that). Long, rangy athlete that was recruit by Chad Dollar to UGA. Really like this pickup for WSU and should fill Council's role.

most of the aac at this point is looking for "one" game changing player.. memphis is the only team where their entire rotation and projection could be flipped on it head and its completely unknown

It would be interesting for fans of each team to provide some feedback about how they see the situation, or to add any new information.
With regard to Temple, it seems likely that Coach McKie will experiment with some different starting lineups early in the season. It's entirely possible that he'll start Miller, Battle, Dunn, Jourdain, and Reynolds. However, (6'7") Jahlil White was such a key player for Temple last year that he might be a starter, as he was in 16 of the team's last 18 games last season. White will probably be expected to play ~30 mpg, as he did last season.
Jourdain had so much difficulty with foul trouble in the last third of last season that McKie might opt to start White instead of Jourdain at the 4. Another possibility is that he might start White and Jourdain, rather than Jourdain & Reynolds at the 4 and 5.
One of the interesting things to watch will be how Battle and Dunn will play when they're both on the floor together, assuming that Battle returns. Of the two, Dunn is more well-suited than Battle is to function as a combo guard with a playmaking role.
Another interesting thing to watch will be how the wing minutes are allocated. If Dunn were to play all but 5-7 mpg of his ~30 mpg at the wing position, White and (6'7") Hicks - - who played a combined ~55 mpg last season) would probably end up playing a lot of their minutes at the 4 (PF) position.
Another possibility is that Dunn might split his minutes between playing the 1, 2, and 3 positions, functioning as the team's backup PG and SG, and only playing 10-15 mpg at the wing position.
A completely unexpected possibility would be that Battle might be able to boost his chances of being a future first-round NBA pick if he were to switch places and start as the team's floor general. One of Battle's main limitations is that he's somewhat of a one-trick pony, who hasn't excelled as either a playmaker or defender. Playing the 1 position would give him an opportunity to boost his assist numbers, and this might be the only way he would stand a chance of being a first-round pick. Sounds like fantasy island, but...?

Like P said, we have 5 open schollies, + Williams and Quinones still in limbo, so any guess at our roster now is futile.

Makes sense - - what would be the "best case/worst case" scenario, in your view, assuming that Memphis remains eligible to play in the 2023 NCAA tournament?
I'm guessing that the "best case" scenario would be a trip to the Final Four, and that the worst case scenario would be that Memphis might have to battle for an 8 seed in the NIT.
Either way, they would probably be expected to finish the season in the NCAA or NIT tournament, which is better than all but 2 or 3 teams in the conference.

Honestly, I have no idea. Penny seems to always put together a talented roster, but every year we start over, more or less, and we seem to take a long time to gel.
By the end, we're dangerous, but we just take too long to get there.
Success to me (opinions will vary) would be getting to the S16, or at least the Round of 32, as we just did. Anything else is a step backwards.
Right now, this is our roster:
PG Kendric Davis
PG Alex Lomax
SG Elijah McCadden
SG Johnathan Lawson
W Jayden Hardaway
PF Chandler Lawson
C Malcolm Dandridge
Hopefully, Lester Quinones (W) and DeAndre Williams (PF) return, or we're in trouble. With those two back, we have a good team. Not Houston good, but NCAA to the Round of 32 good, maybe.
I'm sure Penny is on some in the portal, but other than Lofton Jr, who likely goes pro, and Caleb Murphy, I don't know who else. Penny is pretty tight lipped about recruiting.
More than anything, we need a center, and then perhaps another outside shooter. Right now, we only have Davis and maybe Lester.
