Pesik what do you think UCF needs roster wise and who should we target? Obviously we need a center and another PG.

considered one of the best forwards in the country...was at la tech, Tulsa just hired la techs coach

Had earlier been some talk of Lofton going pro but looks like Tulsa might be a good spot for him for 22-23. Dude can play.

Lol. Dude isn’t going to Tulsa.

He’s going to have juggernauts after him. And I’ll be shocked if he’s not playing for Houston next season.

*eyeroll*

Everything I have read and been told is Tulsa are the favorites right now. Doesn't mean he will end up at Tulsa.

UCF is the one team to me that its not about roster, or talent ..its about culutre and belief in that team to win...ucf likely has a top 3 starting core in the league right now, but id still have you 8th in the preseason poll

your line up
- Darius Johnson- touted pg recruit who was all-freshmen team
- Darin Green - top 3 shooter in the league, all-conference last year
- Taylor Hendricks - incoming top 50 recruit
- C.J. Walker - former 5star
- Jamille Reynolds- promising center

- Tyem Freeman- former juco all-american

that's not a bad core "on-paper"...
not many needs, another pg/another center beyond that its building depth and competition .. 2 touted transfers and ucf would have one of the best on-paper rosters again

Joe Toussaint picks WVU over Cincy. which could be a good thing

GSU's starting center (smu hired GSU's coach)
Tai Strickland to GA Southern
Monzy Jackson to Jacksonville State

Glad we didn’t get Toussaint. McNeil would be a very good add and would allow DeJulius to play the point a bit.

Question:

In your view, is it a positive or a negative to get commitments from transfers by the 15th or 20th of April, as opposed to getting transfer commitments at the end of April or in May?

There are some who seem to think that it's best to get transfers signed early in the process, and others who believe that it's best not to fill all the openings for transfers until the high-end players have all made their announcements.

A third group of fans might have the opinion that teams with multiple roster spots to fill should try to sign some recruits or most players early in the process, and only leave one or two spots open until May.

.

Some more specific questions:

1. Should Memphis, Temple, and Wichita St. fans be concerned that, with multiple spots to fill, they haven't signed any transfers yet?

2. With only about 10%-15% of the transfer spots being filled at this point, is it going to take significantly longer for the transfer spots to be filled this year?

Note: Some AAC schools have signed most of their transfers before April 31st in previous years. The process seems to be taking longer this year, so far.

depends on the school and school recruiting capability..

if you can pick up top transfers, early is better, you get your choice of who you want

if you arent a great recruiter it might be better to wait ... scholarship limits will start kicking in at a point..arkansas the top transfer recruting team was top 5 for every top transfer earlier but reached their limit.. now arent competition anymore

there are TOO many good player most arent going to big schools, being in the aac (multibid league)- and minute availability, after the top schools get cleared out ..we are going to be the top options left

tons of top aac transfer pickups were really late: grimes, jalen cook..as examples

Hate losing guys like Davis... those are the type we need to be able to keep in conference.

I covet his services, along with scores of other programs.
Pretty much every program with an open spot is going to be interested in Davis assuming he stays in college. Should be a wild recruitment, let that NIL money fly.
Yeah, while having two 6-foot guards (DeJulius and Davis) playing together wouldn't be ideal defensively, I'd kill to have him on our team. He can play anywhere. I'm guessing he ends up either at a blue blood like Kansas, or maybe somewhere in the SEC depending on who has the biggest bag of NIL cash to offer.

Interesting comments...thanks.

I wonder if I'm the only one who has the feeling that the 2022 version of the transfer portal seems to be dragging on a bit, compared to the past version.

I don't follow many AAC schools' recruiting pages, but one that I do follow shows that the last two transfers who committed and played significant minutes verballed in early April, but this year, there's been little news, to date, even with respect to visits, etc. Also haven't seen or heard much scuttlebutt at the other conference schools with multiple openings...no "buzz."

I'm getting the gut feeling that this year's transfer portal might drag on for 4-6 weeks longer. than last year's did. Wonder if anyone else has.

.

Also starting to wonder if some of the AAC HC's may end up signing Class of 2022 HS late recruits, rather than transfers, if they can't find the combinations of qualities or skills they're in need of in the transfer portal.

There are still a fair number of slots being taken up by players who've opted for an extra year of Covid eligibility, and that could mean that there are some very gifted HS recruits out there who haven't committed yet.

players are doing visits this year, and the school semester isnt over, so they have to do it over the weekends..

no visits last year because of covid ..it will naturally take longer
