it was more that the last 3 Wichita players before porter wanting NIL money from wichita, than other programs luring them out with NIL offers

imo that still speaks to IB and the culutre but also negative on the player.. demanding to get NIL or transferring is a poor reflection on the players characters.. its also on IB culture that his key players viewed their relationship as transactional.. technically what the players asked is illegal

i still dont think the issue is NIL (as in get pay the players)... but the culture in which is established.. the solution isnt pay the players and get an NIL program..its get player who fit the culture, an make a culture that sustains that ... blaming not having major NIL playouts makes no sense to me

either way Eldridge says he'll expand in a article he is writing right now

University of Houston: Hoop and Holler Houston

"Hoop and Holler Houston is described as a sports “micro-collective” with the interest of supporting student athletes through NIL. Their NIL goal is to reach as many U OF H student athletes as financially possible and provide them with memorable and unique experiences within their fanbase and community.

A variety of NIL opportunities may be made available to U OF H athletes, including social media endorsements, traditional media advertisements, in-kind deals for promotional activities, appearances, meet and greets, autographs, and digital content."

As of today, that NIL tracker shows 60 NIL collectives across 44 FBS schools, including 5 in the AAC: Houston, Memphis, SMU, Tulane and UCF.

lmao that is a fan run thing (a 1 fan run thing).. and a very small one at that... that has nothing to do with UH (if im completely honest i think it run by a student asa startup venture)
.. their total NIL setup is helping mark and sasser get a pizza store NIL deal for like 1k

heres there website made from a free weebly account

i meant Program made NIL programs like Memphis, or "Oklahoma1" with heavy resources and is legtimate lol

2ships left.. and heavy contenders for some guys, your roster probably set in few weeks

just to go through this list

houston isnt a real Nil program, Tulane isnt a real NIL program

smu is legtimate (but for football), Memphis is legtimate, UCF is legtimate

Real= university backed and/or major donors - will have impact in the millions

Houston is run by a fan, Tulane is run by the writer of popular tulane blog -- will have less than $5k impact- probably what "true NIL" was meant to be.. they try to link local businesses to players for marketing opportunities

I really thought there's no way in hell Schwartz puts together a roster with literally 2 upper classmen (and 1 of those being Tabbs who might not ever play). I might be wrong, in the era of the transfer portal he's going to put together the least experienced roster in the country.

last offseason i said simply based on high usage temple was going to get players on the all freshmen team.. no one in the league beside memphis was using freshmen like that (ended up with 2).. depending on who you land, you could probably make a similar case for ecu next year..

if you land who you are favored to land with you last 2 ships;
the total major d1 experience on ECU will come from 2 players: tabbs who has missed almost 3 years to injury, and debaut who has missed a significant amount of games to injury... the other 11 were either barely used freshmen, incoming juco, redshirting freshmen, incoming freshmen

does context not matter????

i was talking about how most programs in the nation do not have major NIL programs, i dont think that is the issue with Wichita (The not having a major NIL program), that houston doesnt have one and is fine

the context is clearly referring to major NIL program that can impact plaayer decisions..

the university of houston doesn't have a nil program.. that is what i said, and it was obvious what i meant ..

You said Houston. You didn't qualify it. That isn't technically correct. You do that a lot. Still want to argue?

Just making a point. And before long, most major football and basketball programs will have an NIL fund. Including Houston.

I'm still believing them, that Davis is going to Houston.
Mr. Davis is MEMPHIS bound.

All other contenders for his services may exit the premises.

The NIL + former NBA All Star coach = the best transfer player in the portal.
Memphis fans around here were all over this one. Made it sound like a done deal from really early on. Well done m

I'm happy, but I feel kinda weird because of our SMU brothers. Somewhat bittersweet.

I've made several comments here I'd kill for Kendric Davis to be on Memphis. The missing link so to speak. Never thought it would happen of course.
Congrats Memphis. Pony94 called this several days ago.

Honestly, for real (since I joke around a lot here), I feel somewhat the same.

I remember saying we could be killer if we had KD. But that was admiration for him, not me wanting to take him from a conference foe.

I would even feel bad if we took him from Pesik. 03-lmfao

My main takeaway from this is how good Eldridge is at his job. Eldridge is such a gem man. You Wichita folks have a great one covering that team.

He did. Good connections.

Our CA beat writer (Jason Munz) has been saying it for several days, too. Turns out, according to his article just posted, KD called Munz and told him after his visit to Memphis, that he canceled all his other visits. He never went to Kansas or TX Tech, as was reported elsewhere.

Also, Munz said KD told him that it came down to Memphis, TX Tech and Duke, who was not even in his Final 7. After mulling it over a few days, KD called Penny.
