Shocked how that changed in 24 hours /sarcasm
There's some sort of fun ish going on with him and UofL. Their boards still don't see him landing there. This in spite of all the CBs. Due to space restrictions UofL is offering, Mr. Brents, the opportunity to blueshirt. I completely forget wtf that even means. I'll defer to someone else on here that knows more on that designation.

If he accepts that offer over a scholly via UC....well.....more power to him, and his parents - or whomever is going to foot that bill. I guess we now know how we suddenly became an option for him. No room at Loserville.

Gotta think it makes more sense to get a scholly, but hey....to each their own. One thing this does show is that the early signing period makes it a whole lot clearer with respect to space in a class. There are kids, highly rated kids, who will end up a victim of circumstance, and have to look other places. Hopefully we can benefit

I'm sure Petrino found someone willing to pay that bill. It may come down to whether Jairus Brents and family are comfortable with that level of risk at a school already under intense NCAA scrutiny.
According to UK, a blue shirt is where you attend for a year and then transfer out to another university.

Well, UC came out of nowhere as well. I could never figure out why UL was not on the hometown kid more than they were.

I know we don't have too many spots left to fill, but things have seemed fairly quiet lately. Any word on who should be filling out our class?

I'm confused. Have you read the last couple pages of this thread?

quite a few names thrown out there. Oats is going elsewhere. Thomas is announcing soon. Lots of names thrown out, but I haven't seen anyone as a "lock." Was seeing if the people here who are more in tune to recruiting rumors and such have a feeling of who actually might commit.

I am aware of the handful of names who we seem to be targeting but that does not mean they are actually that interested, and I don't feel like reading through pages arguing over how many Juco's actually play well here.

Only 4 big names left - we've got atleast 1 spot open. Thomas to UC, Oats to UK, Taylor UL lean, Brents 50/50 depending on if UL fills spots with other guys first.

Tavion Thomas seems to be a lock for the Bearcats.
Leonard Taylor seems to be deciding between the Bearcats and University-6 (Louisville).
Jairus Brents is deciding between a scholarship with the Bearcats and a blue-shirt from University-6.

On the 247 site is there a way to forecast what our class rank would be nationally if we were able to land 2 of these guys with composite ratings between 89 and 90? Would I be wrong to think this class could have top 30 potential?

Yes, there is a class calulcator. Landing Thomas and Brents would put us at #40 as it currently stands

Idk that there's a world in which we make the top 30 with our class. There are too many classes to jump, and too much movement yet to take place.

We will however be just about a lock to have our best class ever at UC. We'll be top 50.

mc
Looking at the P5 schools that still have room in this class and averages of their current commits, my guess is unless UC knocks it out of the park with these last few spots we will have the best class we have ever had, will have the best class in the AAC and the entire G5, and will still be in the mid 50's in overall ranking.
We should always be in the upper echelon of the G5.

The fact that we are above even 10 P5 is a win. Our budget is microscopic compared to theirs.
Leonard Taylor to UC may be gaining steam.

You're right - I don't know what I was thinking. For poos and giggles, I forecasted UC getting commits from the top 2 unsigned players, five stars Nicholas Petit-Frere and Patrick Surtain Jr., and we'd still barely crack the top 25.

undeniably incredible job by Fickell and Co this offseason though. Hopefully it translates on the field over the next few years.

I saw that as well. If we get 2/3 of Thomas, Brents, and Taylor, that would be swell. All 3 would be a slam dunk.
Whyle and Taylor together would be pretty awesome. I'm not upset about it, but why go for 2 TEs in this class?
