MHJ aint going nowhere with a Mother like that. He'll play where she tells him to.
And he did look mighty sharp all dressed up last night! His time is just around the corner.

I will be so glad when Michael Hueitt, Jr. gets better. Flu sucks...But he did look sharp in that suit on the bench supporting his teammates..Coach Jones is a trooper, despite obviously not being 100% he did it for his team. @Michaelhueitt25 @ODUMBB

.@ODUMBB has a pair of freshman who can knock down the 3-pointers. So how come they're not playing much? https://pilotonline.com/sports/college/o...8f9bc.html

This is great. Happy mom has stepped in. Sometimes young guys don’t know what they’re saying and can jump the gun when they’re frustrated. Mom needs to keep showing support. Also, Randy can give Hueitt some advice on this matter. I really hope he decides he wants to grind it out. I was told the staff loves him.

We have two freshmen that have each had 4 threes in a game this year. Pretty impressive!
Both players shoot the ball great. Young players need to be patient. All good programs have young players that need to wait their turn. Put in the work. Good things will happen. Good teams have talented young guys that don’t get a lot of PT.
I love this woman. MHJ is bound to be a success with a mom like her.

Yep MB, I love her!

Now, let’s get us a great big man to help keep this train running great next year.
I've been lurking as I read the insinuation here, but wasn't MHJ critical to getting Marquis to join him here by flipping back to ODU from UR?

If so, how likely would it be that he'd just up and leave after his freshman year?

Hey, I'm with you man. I am feeling more and more confident that he will remain here. I was extremely shocked when I heard the news. His time is coming, if he's patient.
I think it's only natural for a kid who can shoot like he can to expect to step right into college and light it up, especially coming to a team that has shot so poorly over the last few years. When it doesn't work out as planned, you have second thoughts. But hopefully he'll listen to mama and stick it out.
More then shooting needed to get PT, which he has now learned, I hope! Look at Randy Haynes, works his butt off on the D end of the court and scores.
I am expecting to see more of Hueitt soon, maybe even some this weekend.
I realize that he is prepping next year, but some news on Vaughan.

Thanks for this post 35. Was wondering about this guy the other day.

So he's a 2019 recruit? He can still opt out too can't he? If he gets better offers?

Yes, yes, and yes.
In a situation like this, where a kid is going to private school anyway, wouldnt it be better for the player to enroll at ODU, pay his own way for his freshman year, walk-on the the basketball team, redshirt, learn the plays, get academics under control and be more ready for next season. That way he still wouldnt burn a scholarship but would have access to the coaches, team, facilities etc. The only reason I can see not to do that is because the coaches suspect he may need two years to develop (prep and redshirt) OR grades are an issue.
Wouldn't the eligibility clock start once he started taking classes at ODU?

Very good news on Vaughan. Thanks for posting. Can't wait to see him on campus.

Perhaps because the prep school is subsidizing some or all of his costs through financial aid or scholarship?
They probably told him he had to work on several things and if he did those things, he gets a scholarship . One could be grades Monarx, who knows. Remember Carver did the same thing, although he was an excellent student. This kid might be too.
