They are good shooters but when you are worried about if the shot you are taking is ok with JJ or your afraid of getting chewed out or bench you mentally hesitate change your rhythm thus lowering your shooting %. Fields and Haynes are scorers and are aggressive offensively. Fields left because of JJ heavy hand didn't allow any flexibility. I hope JJ changes or he will ruin Green, Hueitt, Godwin.
Neither Fields or Haynes were scared to shoot, which is why they shot such a low percentage. Its hard to argue 30% ahooters are good shooters
Using the same logic, how would you describe a coach whose teams continually shoot a poor percentage?

I would have to go back and see where the rankings are. We all know Jones doesnt have the best offensive numbers over the past year or 2.

It appears that there isn't any recruiting news at this time.
My friend ran into coach Richardson at the book store and spoke to him briefly. Coach R pointed out a young man and said he was a recruit visiting. Sorry, all I know, but at least it's about, you know, recruiting.

The kid is an excellent shooter, reminds me of a bigger Godwin. There's a real shortage of bigs in this class, one reason we're looking overseas. Glad they got him in for a visit. "He has already been offered by schools such as Saint Louis U, Kansas State, Duquesne with many others showing interest. His length enables him to score around the basket..." Sorry to hear you have such low expectations about this coming year. I must say I am not a fan of JJ's style of play BUT I am excited and expecting a pretty darn good year coming up. After talking to all the coaches last week we are going to play Brandon and Porter together. The starting line up is going to be Caver at point with BJ at either 2 or 3 and Brandon and Porter. They are still uncertain who the other starter will be. They are also planning on possibly playing a 4 guard with one big rotation. This would be the two freshmen guards with Cavers backup( transfer from last year) and either Green or Haynes( one will start and one will play on this team) along with Kah. Needless to say this second group will play a lot of zone defense. That's right ZONE defense. The reason for this is this group is not ready to play defense but can shoot the ball well. It sounded like a change from what has been a boring product. I am actually excited about this upcoming season. Should be a lot of fun and who knows.If it works we could be good enough to go dancing. I fully expect the naysayers to chime in with the usual no way this club can make the NCAA playoffs but this is by far the best group of players we have had in JJs time here at ODU.

Thanks for the update blewbyu. I can't wait for the season to get underway as well. Am hearing some really good things about BJ and Porter during this offseason. Forgive me, I know this is not recruiting news but wanted to give a thumbs up to your report.
