We hired their birth father. They hired a guardian who may not have parental approval to be his guardian.

Way to miss the point.

The only reason they got him is because they hired someone important to the kid. The only reason we got the stiths to transfer is because we hired their dad.

How was that hard to understand?

No, I got the comparison you were making. And that's why I pointed out how you clearly didn't read the article. The two situations while comparable on their face, could not be more different. It's a weak comparison based on reality.

The problem isnt hiring the dude, even if hes probably not qualified. Bryant Stith is an actual basketball coach and birth father to both kids. In this case you have a guardian that took over custody against his birth fathers wishes, received Impermissible benefits that ruled his school ineligible and got himself fired, and is pimping international kids for a profit (and now gettingn a job solely because of it).
There's something you can find out by talking to Coach Stith. While BT was coach, the Stiths had contacted him by mail and email about the recruitment of the boys. BT didn't see the boys as a fit and didn't even give the Stiths a look. I think if JJ was coach and with the relationship he had with Bryant, he would have recruited the brothers. He might of lost BJ to UVa and should of been able to get Brandan without hiring Bryant. Recruitment is about relationships and JJ & Bryant had a good relationship. Some coaches really miss an easy recruitment. BT missed several right here in our backyard, that were served up on a silver platter. Some coaches really whiff like Coach Greenberg who pass on Seth Curry and now he's a TV analysis.
We don't have a 2020 Recuiting tread but in the last two days we made several offers. Including being the first to offer Canadian big 6-10, C, Tegra Izay, he's in HS school in PA.

Good point Dabig. I know your report on this is correct. Despite his success BT was digging us a big hole to climb out of his last couple of years. I am glad the Stith family landed at ODU.
I would love to see Coach Stith be given a head coaching opportunity. I think he could effectively blend the discipline of JJ defense with a more open up tempo offense like he played in the NBA. Plus he has instant recruiting credibility.

Yet somehow they didn’t bother to go play for him at American and only transferred to odu AFTER WE HIRED THEIR DAD.

Why would they want to play at American?

Because of their dads awesome relationship with Jeff jones right? Lol
So... past mid-June. Any news? Rumors? Guesses?

Methinks that a 2019 NCAA Tournament bid isn't looking too promising.

Without another big man, I think our best hope is to finish top 4 and go on a tournament run. Marshall and WKU will be quite tough and have to be the pre-season top 2, and UNT will be good too. MTSU just had an exodus of players, so hopefully we can beat them this year. Still hard to believe Porter leaving put us in such a bind.

Izay goes to school at Carroll HS in NE DC, so he's playing against DeMatha, St. John's, Paul VI, Good Counsel; in other words, great competition. He is from Canada.
