I'm probably pulling for the underdogs in each series, but with the Cards and Mets out, I can watch and just enjoy baseball.
I'd have the Dodgers #1 still. The Yankees couldn't surprise me if they got bounced by Cleveland or if they went to WS. You just don't know which team will show up. There is NO WAY i'd have them favored over the Astros.

I was surprised to see LA third too. I think if I had to choose one team to really pull for it would be Seattle. No real connection to them, but loved Griffey Jr. as a kid and they may have the best hat in baseball.

Seattle is a tough, scrappy team. I just wonder if they have enough SP. Castillo is great, but Ray hasn't been good at all as a 2
Are our resident Mets fans ok?

I mostly dislike the Mets because of how frequently I heard Ron Santo talk about 1969. That is way before I was born, but I love Santo and he was the ultimate Cub...striking out 1000 times to them in 2015 didn't endear me either, but I don't hate the Mets the same way I hate the Cards.

I say that to preface my next question regarding the trade deadline. Also, I would say this isn't to pour salt in the wounds so soon after a playoff exit. Mets had a great year! But, they were missing pieces and for a team that was "all-in", they played it safe at the trade deadline. I'm curious how Mets' fans feel about the deadline in hindsight?

At the deadline, Chicago was assumed to overvalue their assets and Hoyer was beat up for not dealing Contreras, but now Heyman reports that NY only offered "third-tier prospects" (e.g. Jose Butto and Khalil Lee for Contreras and David Robertson). CHC was ultimately able to get a better return than that rom Philly for just Robertson and they'll get a competitive balance pick for WC if they're unable to sign him.

From my perspective, they let last year's mistake impact this year's decisions at the deadline and it cost them. Of course, there were multiple factors, but one more win takes the division and avoids the play-in altogether.

Maybe I'm wrong; maybe holding tight to the prospects was the right move, but Max is 38 and deGrom may opt out. It feels like their window is already tight.

One of my good friends is a huge Mets fan and he was pissed with the deadline deals or lack thereof. I agree with you, seems like this is the year they should have pushed their chips all in, they chose not too. Their new owner will spend, so it will be certainly be interesting to see what happens going forward.
My sentimental choice for a World Series match up is Dodgers v. Guardians. That way a Seahawk gets a ring. Evan Phillips is a reliever for LA and Carl Willis (already has a W. Series ring) is the Guardians pitching coach.

Cleveland winning a WS…You are a dreamer Proff.
I said "sentimental choice" - which is not a prediction. In reality i am on Orioles fan. So yes, I am a dreamer. 03-wink

Crazy comeback by the Astros. I just don't see how anyone beats them in the AL.
Braves game in rain delay

Following from a distance about the Bravos but they are down 2-1. My father passed away and the funeral was this week so I'm not into sports mode. Hopefully the Bravos pull it out!
Dodgers about to get eliminated. Crazy

Damn Dodgers. All that money and talent and can't last one series. 10 straight postseasons, 9 have failed. 03-banghead

They also lost 2 guys that are essentially #1 pitchers on any other team in Bueller and Gosolin(who wasn't the same after injury)
Phillies in the WS just as everyone expected. LOL. Astros were an easy call. They flat out embarrassed the Yankees. Boone should have been fired on the spot for making the excuse about the roof being open in game 2. Word out of NY is they are likely going to bring Boone and Cashman back. If this happens, they won't get another dime from me i'm done! I had a NY trip on agenda for next Summer, I definitely won't go to a game which will be a first. On top of that, i won't renew MLB package which will be the first time in 20 years. There is a lot of noise from others hopefully they follow suit.

I'm impressed by Houston. Not just what they've done this year, but the run they're on despite losing key pieces is admirable. I'm not a huge Dusty fan, but I respect him and I wouldn't be mad if he finally won a ring.

Philly is fun. I love Castellanos and Schwarber, so I won't be upset if they win either.

Adam Gold was talking about Judge today. He's suggesting that Judge could get 45-50M per year...that is insane to me. It feels unrealistic to me; no position player is earning 40M+. Scherzer is making 43M/yr but on a short deal.

I LOVE Judge, but if it's that much happy trails! I've watched them be handcuffed by a lot of crappy deals over the last 20 years don't want that again. Further, i think he cost himself some money with his anemic postseason showing. And that's not a one off, he's sucked in his postseason career.
I despise Houston, and there's players on that team that should've been banned from playing baseball.

I don't have anything against Dusty, but haven't watched much baseball since that entire fiasco played out and probably won't due to the MLB response to it.
The amount of money dished out at the Winter Meetings doesn't surprise as much as the length of the contracts. 11 years for Bogaerts is wild, but his contract still expires before Tatis Jr.
