Have no clue what the Yanks will do if Tanaka opts out. Starters have to be the focus at this time-maybe,who knows.

Scwharber still has plenty of value. He's 24 and just finished his first full year in the MLB. As a leadoff hitter, he failed, but in the second half he hit .250 and on the year he it 30 HR. He can play.

EXACTLY. Every time Maddon put him at the top of the lineup I cringed. That's not his game. He's not the greatest defensively, but when he plays at the plate like he did in the 2nd half, teams tend to forgive those types of things.

He's not a leadoff hitter, and the loss of our true leadoff hitter was our downfall this year. The team never seemed to gel offensively after he left. I'm not a fan of platooning the leadoff role. To me, that's a major offensive position that sets the tone for the game and the offense. It's a position you have to hunt down and fill.

He was a major reason why the Cubs won the World Series, so I don't Theo is going to feel pressure to do anything with him. I think he'll be fine, but he would be better off in the AL. That said, he isn't as bad in LF as it seems, although he's made some really unfortunate plays in the OF during the playoffs. I don't know what he'd net in return if traded, but I really think he or Happ are moved. The other theory that scares me a little is the possibility of moving Addison Russell.

Can't see them moving Russell unless they got a legit No 2 starter and nobody really trades those guys anyway. Happ is a much better looking prospect to me but baseball people have fallen in love the HR guy so maybe they keep Scwharber in LF but I disagree on him being playable there for the long haul. They really missed the leadoff man this year and I could them going after Dee Gordon or somebody like him to set the tone. Miami might make that deal but it would have to include more than KS-IMO.

Chicago is as guilty as any team when it comes to falling in love with launch angle. I think that's partly why they've moved on from their hitting coach. I think their hesitancy to move on from Schwarber is the thought they he's a transcendent hitter. What we saw in 2015 and in the '16 WS supports that, but 2017 obviously created doubt.

I don't think they'll move Russell either, especially after trading two high level SS prospects. But, he'd probably net the best return package, and Theo is high on character. If they have doubts about his character, they could move him. The beauty of having both Russell and Baez, is you have exceptional mid-infield defense AND the versatility of Baez to fill in at 3B or SS. If you trade Russell, you cripple your depth and versatility because Happ moves to 2B and that's his only IF position.

Same feeling i got when Girardi put Judge #2
Roy Halladay passed away in a plane crash at the age of 40. So sad!

Terrible news. I enjoyed watching him pitch, but saddened for his wife and boys.
No shocking news in the awards thus far. Interested to see MVP
MVP recorded the last out in the World Series two years in a row.

A lot of Yankee fans are crying like little girls, you just can't disappear for two months and win the MVP. If Judge gave anything during that time period he likely wins, but his numbers were horrid for a good 40 game stretch.

No problem with Altuve, but i think Votto should have won over Stanton
Some people were saying Goldschmidt over Stanton. That pick would have made some sense too.

Hard to ignore 59 dingers, but those other guys were on better teams. Especially Goldy. Votto's OBP numbers are absurd.
Ohtani sweepstakes:

"Hideo Nomo’s son is Ohtani’s translator. Nomo works in padres front office. Ohtani’s old trainer is head of sports medicine for Padres. Ohtani’s agent is from a city within San Diego (Point Loma).”

But, don't count out Theo, from David Kaplan: MLB executive just told me that Theo and Jed are pulling out all of the stops to impress Ohtani. “Theo and Jed are being incredibly creative with their pitch. They’ve thought of everything. And I mean everything. Still going to be tough to land him but they are in there hard.”

It's been stated that it's down to Seattle and SF.

In other news, as much as i despise Girardi, i think i'd rather have him back! Hiring someone with ZERO coaching experience at arguably one of the toughest jobs in baseball seems very silly to me.

Granted, Ohtani sounds like the best Japanese MLB prospect in recent memory, but I wasn't all that thrilled with the last one we brought over. He was definitely below avg once it all panned out. Seems like most of these guys are overrated in a Japanese baseball system then come over and get a taste of The Show and they're star power falls to realistic earth pretty quickly.

I'd rather we look to spend big money on arms. That's what we were really missing this last season. The last thing I feel like the Cubs should be doing is wasting big money on another bat. That's not going to solve our pitching problems that plagued Chicago last year.

It's almost comical how stereotypical that is.

At the cost he's going to bring to a team, I'd rather the Cubs go after two to three other quality arms that are proven in the MLB.

I have not, so no ill intent whatsoever. I was just passing along what has been said, supposedly by his camp. I've been following closely as i though the Yanks had a legit shot.
