Rice has had one guy transfer to Nevada and another to Florida. Waiting to see where the last guy transfers. It's too bad Evans had nothing to play with. (besides an all conference player). I bet teams triple teamed Evans and Egor!
Rice heading back to 250 rpi status as we speak.... yay for CUSA!!

The worst part is, I don't think they care.
VCU has an NFL presence for now. Mo Allie-Cox is a long shot to make the Colts. After the draft, ODU will have at least 5 on NFL rosters, with all of them likely to make the team:

1. Heinicke (Vikings)
2. Lovato (Eagles)
3. Pinkard (Jaguars)
4. Coward
5. Pascal

Evans was triple teamed all season though!! Bahahaha.

Yeah, it was great to get tagged in this pic...

Wikipedia only lists Heinicke and Lovato as NFL players. I made sure to post links to all of the ODU guys that were in camps as UDFAs like Mo is. Pinkard, Morrell, Cameron, Wilkins, Burnette, McClam, and was going to list Richard Ross as well.
Yeah, wait 3 years.
pls lock this god forsaken thread

take off your rose colored glasses...who was CUSA rookie of the year ? Who was 1st team all conference ?
Caver showed a high ceiling. Evans was more consistent. If Caver becomes consistent, he'll be every bit as good.

It's a train wreck. 5 decent programs produce 4 good teams in a 14 team conference.

It'll be very interesting to see what he does with a heck of a lot more talent around him now.

Btw this was a given.

Double teaming and triple teaming a guard? That is new.

It's also total bull****.

He absolutely faced double teams. You honestly have no clue wtf you are talking about if you do not realize that.

Maybe when a big hedged a screen but he was not double teamed.

This is so wrong it's barely worth responding too.

He was hedged on screens the entire season and when he drove to the rim, teams collapsed on him CONSTANTLY.

I cannot believe how many ill informed odu fans have such "strong" opinions. You guys are absolutely embarrassing yourselves as per usual.

As I said, it'll be very interesting to see what he does with a real team and real players around him that prevent collapsing defenses or constant hedges.

You said a point guard was double and triple teamed all season...but I'm the one embarrassing myself?

Also, everyone hedges screens. It's either a hedge or a switch.
Someone that played college basketball please help, and if I am wrong, tell me.

You are correct. It's hedge or switch (or if the screener has limited shooting range, maybe an all out trap on the ballhandler.)

I don't think it's accurate to say that Evans didn't have good players around him. For whatever reason, they didn't mesh. Evans didn't play well this past year from what I saw. Tons of turnovers.

Nice player, but in the limited times I saw him, I would take Caver, who has a bigger upside IMHO.
LOCK IT UP! LOCK IT UP!

Apparently when your big guys collapse on the paint when a guard drives to the hoop (like they are supposed to do), it is called a triple team.

Well damn...Talley was triple teamed every time he touched the ball.

Edit: You would think, with all of these double teams and triple teams Evans was facing, he would've averaged more than 3.3 assists per game in his first two years.

Your lack of self control is appalling.

What do I need to do to get this thread locked? I'm willing to take one for the team and get a 2 week ban for saying something egregious enough to put a lock on it.

Let's see what I can do:

1. VCU is much better than ODU at basketball
2. bit_9 and odualum78 are just the worst, I mean, look at them. No energy. So sad. No spines!
3. Black and yellow is appealing to the eye
4. Mo Allie Cox will be better than Richard Ross
5. VCU will beat us this year, and again next year, and the year after that.
6. VCU will make it to the tournament this year. We will not.
7. The moderators smell bad.
8. 03-shhhh

This has a lot of potential:

9. The "fans" who sit on the west side of Foreman Field are dweebs. We on the east side are much cooler.
