The irony of the title talking about VCU's "decline" while ODU fans are talking about our actual decline is hilariously depressing. Can we close this thread for good?

Agree, the thread is pathetic. VCU may or may not slip with a new coach (I doubt it), but that has nothing to do with us. I'd rather rise to their level than see them slip back towards us. Some seem content to see it pan out the other way.
Evans leaving Rice. I guess hes willing to sit out.
He didn't announce his destination but I assume it will be VCU?

I am thinking Power 5. Who knows?

Prior to this year, there were some that thought he would go to the NBA after this season. I think this year showed that while he certainly has game, he does have holes in it. Without looking at the rosters, I think he'd be great at a place like Florida State or Wake Forest.

No information so far on whether Rice is limiting the schools to which he can transfer.

This thread has evolved.

I did not intend for it to become a comparison of our basketball programs. We're clearly not comparable.

No CUSA schools or U of Houston. Everything else appears to be fair game.
VCU seems to have a great shot. He has to find the right fit. Think someone could do like Kansas and play 2 point guards and hide him on worst perimeter scorer.

VCU makes a lot of sense, although he could end up at the 2 there if they hold onto their incoming point guard. NC State could be a good fit too. I think Wake is probably set in the backcourt, and FSU could be, depending on what happens with XRM and Bacon. Tech seems like they could be a good fit, losing Seth Allen.
VT's Clark is a close friend of his.

Buzz let's his guards go on offense but he requires great effort on D. I don't know if that sounds as good to Evans since he seems to be adverse to playing D (don't know if that is real or just perception since Rice didn't try to play a lot of D as a team).
Did VCU lose any recruits from the coaching change?

Two have reaffirmed their commitments, the other two have made no public moves one way or another. I believe by this point in Wade's tenure, all three of Shaka's recruits had asked for release from their NLI.

Of course, that doesn't mean the two that said they were still all in will remain that way, though obviously it's a better thing to read than "I've decided to explore my options". But I don't count people as officially in until they're on campus in August. Too many dominoes can fall.

Maybe because Wade didn't make the same mistake as Shaka by telling the kids and the city that he will never ever ever leave.

Also, I don't think Wade had as much of an impact on the school and recruiting as Shaka did. Going from Shaka to Wade was much different than Wade to Rhoades

Or maybe because nobody really loved Wade, and the kids he recruited were more attached to VCU than to him.
Or the VCU recruits didn't want to follow Wade to LSU and be second fiddle to football? LSU has a couple top 100 types; maybe Wade didn't want the others besides Batts. Or Wade didn't have a 4-5 year relationship with these recruits?

No one really knows.
