Well time to get this thread going...

place your bets!
John Richardson, with Drew Williamson as an asst.
I think John Richardson will be with Drew Williamson, Darius James among others on the staff
I'm for Richardson.
ODU can do better. I like Richardson, but has he really paid his dues yet? I'm hoping for someone new, with Richardson moving into that 1st assistant/Associate Head Coach? I too hope Drew Williamson is retained in some way.
In years past I would have put my vote in for Corrigan, but I don't think that would work this time around. It has to be someone with good relationships with the prominent aau squads, as well. I don't claim to be "in the know" when it comes to candidates, so I'm just hoping for the best possible fit for the university and the program.
Richardson will be the interim, and after the season is over I'd be shocked if Wood didn't look elsewhere for a more experienced candidate. Even if Richardson does a great job as an assistant, I don't think he'll be here next year. Look at what we did with Nate Goulet after he won CAA Coach of the Year as an interim with the baseball team.

New season, new conference, new staff.
I don't want to mention who are being mentioned on Twitter in jest. 05-nono

Mike Davis?
Curious.
Have any of you guys that say you like Richardson ever talk to him?

I haven't.

But then again I probably won't have talked to anyone that ends up on ODU's shortlist. Unless they want to hire my dad or something. Can I still have an opinion? It's understood that we don't have 100% of the info that others do.

Wendy Larry?

Our friend from VA Tech, a Capel, Larry Brown.
Yes I have talked with him. We all set with him at the tip off dinner. He loves Wood btw.
The list is broken into 4 categories: Up and Coming Assistants, Current mid-major coaches, Former Head Coaches, and Current High Major Head Coaches who could be fired.

Current mid-major coaches
Sydney Johnson (Fairfield)
Mike Young (Wofford)
Steve Pikiell (Stony Brook)
Ray Harper (Western Kentucky)
John Becker (Vermont)
Dr. Brett Reed (Lehigh)
Jeff Jones (American) --- worked with Wood at UVA
Tom Herrion (Marshall) --- worked with Wood at UVA
Dave Macedo (VWC) --- not mid-major, but a successful head coach

Up and Coming Assistants
John Richardson (ODU)
Mike Rhoades (VCU)
Russ Springmann (Texas)
Matt Graves (Butler)
Jason Gee (Cleveland State)
Dalonte Hill (Maryland)
Hubert Davis (UNC) --- 1st year asst.
Steve Wojciechowski (Duke)
Travis Steele (Xavier)
Tim Fuller (Mizzou)
Jeff Boals (Ohio State)

Former Head Coaches
Dave Leitao (current Mizzou Asst.; former HC at DePaul, Northeastern, UVA)
Darrin Horn (former WKU and South Carolina; worked with Wood at WKU)
Steve Robinson (current UNC Asst.; former HC at Tulsa and FSU)
Joe Dooley (current Kansas Asst.; former HC at ECU)

Current High-major coaches who could be fired
Josh Pastner (Memphis)
Craig Robinson (Oregon State)
Herb Sendek (Ariz. State)
Ben Howland (UCLA)

I'm sure there are others I've missed. What are your thoughts?
Have also seen the name Bobby Lutz thrown around. Current associate HC at NC State, former HC of Charlotte
If the same process is followed that was used for Bobby Wilder, it won't be Wood's call alone. I believe a consulting firm proffered a number of suitable candidates and they all interviewed with a board of influential ODU donors/advisors.

There's a lot a stake with this hire. Too much to leave it to nepotism (aka "friend of Wood"). Not that I believe Wood would base the 2nd most significant hire on something that shallow. I fully believe this hire will receive A LOT of scrutiny. ODU needs to re-establish itself as a rising star in the college BB world.
Good post Maryland.

Of course you can have an opinion. I'm curious of why people state things and I wanted to know why you are endorsing Richardson. I just don't think there is much information out there on him to form an opinion one way or another.
I have been saying I want Wojo but I doubt he is leaving Duke ever

Would you leave Duke with the opportunity to possibly become the head man whenever Coach K leaves?
