Felton, Robinson or Corrigan would have been better. Why not Rhoades? Did he turn us down?
Trojan horses are made of...Wood!

CUSA basketball just lost the Golden Hurricane...but don't worry, the blue & silver sh*tstorm is blowing in.

Again......you are asking the wrong question.

Wood hired his buddy......he wanted to hire him all along, so he did.

Everything else that happened was done so to make it look like it wasn't cronyism.

Don't ask any questions of people turning us down because it didn't happen.

Wood hired his guy, it is absolutely nothing more than that.
I feel bad for the players.

Good trip to Europe
Teammates let go
Transfers
Terrible start to the year with a horrible slow pace game
Beat UVA
Taylor fired
Corrigan picks up the tempo and wins some games
Jeff Jones hired and back to a horrible slow pace game

Jeff Jones, a 20-plus-year coaching veteran best known for his eight-year tenure at Virginia, has been hired as Old Dominion’s next men’s basketball coach, a source said Wednesday.

Jones, 52, has coached at American University since 2000. He will replace Blaine Taylor, who was fired in February after 12 seasons.

Jones career record is 358-286 in 21 seasons overall, and 212-182 in 13 years at American. He took Virginia to five NCAA tournaments, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 1993 and the Elite Eight in1995.

American made two NCAA appearances during his tenure, in 2008 and 2009.

Other finalists for the job were former Western Kentucky and Georgia coach Dennis Felton; North Carolina assistant Steve Robinson, and California assistant Travis DeCuire, a former assistant at Old Dominion, a source said.

I agree. He wasted all that money on a consulting firm for what amounted to window dressing. It was just cover for him to hire the fool he wanted all along.

I'm not one to flame on these boards...but this hire has me enraged!

Same here. He did have good success at UVA. He also got American to the NCAAs twice (and that takes some doing). Plus, he may have a few things to prove after his downfall. Given the list the Miller listed as finalists, I'm not sure we could have done much better.

What's done is done. Go Jeff!!! Get us some big men and some NCAA wins!!!

I wish I had your optimism.
Almost any other choice would have been better.
Somewhere out west, Blaine Taylor is laughing his a** off!04-chairshot
I'd like to win some NCAA tournament games. Not just get there.
There were so few available coaching options too. This is pathetic. FGCU's tourney run was the worst thing to happen to us.
And somewhere on odu campus a girl is lengthening her skirt. Posters are going around campus wanted if you this man call this number...he believed to have low morals and likes to date students. 5555555
I will understate this. I am not extremely pleased with the hire.

Being the eternal optimist, once he is indeed on board, it is time to cheer for the Monarchs on the court and be happy when we achieve basketball success.

God, I'm glad I love football!

Don't kid yourself......

Enfield was probably never a serious candidate either.

He may have been "interviewed", but I guarantee you Wood just wanted Jeff Jones all along.

I have zero reason to believe any different.

I am thoroughly disgusted in Old Dominion University right now.
If you could use some optimism about this hire, check out Doug Ripley's twitter:

Forget style. Just win. If we can make a Tourney run by playing Big East style basketball, so be it. Better than Paul Ball anyday.

that's not optimism, it's the same thing as when everyone outside Hampton Roads thought Blaine shouldn't have been fired.
"Dr." Wood Selig is a f***ing hick.
