Another name that may be a longshot is Travis Decuire, former ODU assistant, now at Cal. He or Robinson at UNC may be in the final mix. I'm glad Wood took a shot at Enfield, just a shame he become a Rock Star over one weekend.

I'll take JCIII over any of those.
Can we just have the announcement at this point? It seems to have run its course on who is in play. Felton ok wood we get it. Now just say it so we can decide on season tickets, which I won't buy.

Doesn't make any freaking sense.

Makes plenty of sense. We were stringing along for Enfield and he went another direction. Now we will go after Toole, Keatts, Reed, Rhoades, Capel or perhaps a surprise candidate. Felton is a fallback and Robinson's name is probably being thrown out there to make Felton more palatable... at least I hope this is the case. In any case, whether we wind up with Felton or not, he is not "the" guy.
I hope so.
Guys......as I have said many times before, it has been Felton. This process was conducted to ensure we fairly advertised the job, looked at multiple candidates, and to ensure anyone that might have wanted the job got a look. Felton met all of Woods criteria since day 1. Now if he is not the one you want.....simply do not give any money to ODAF and do not buy men's tickets. I support Wood in who he hires but if this hire does not take ODU back to the NCAA then he should be held accountable. Felton has shown at the CUSA level he can win.
He's never won an NCAA tournament game. He's like 0-4. If you're not going to hire an upstart, why would you want someone that has worse luck in the tournament than Blaine?
I think it's positive, the longer it takes the better chance for a surprise hiring. Wood has Felton as an option, no one is bidding him up. I'm hoping Wood is looking at his options here. Two guys with Va ties out there with Keatts and Robinson and they're both in the college game. If Felton is hired who would he get for his staff and were.
1. Keatts
2. JC III
3. Me
We're screwed. Or at least I feel like we are. If there is an announcement Wednesday there's no way it can be the Louisville guy. He wouldn't do that before the weekend. It sounds more and more like the one guy that no one actually wants.

Please no.

Chris Collins was announced before the season ended. Louisville has another asst. coach that took the head job elsewhere but is finishing the season at Louisville.
Keatts
Toole if he doesn't go to Siena, can't we beat them out
I like Robinson next
JCIII would be interesting
Felton doesn't have the buzz, I think this is the man that gets the job.
Jim C would be as good as any other after that.

We need Va ties very important, need guys in the game. We know a minority hire is a big issue and connections to ODU is a plus.

Hoping the wait brings more options. There are a few guys with the ODU connection. Another longshot is Kenny Gatterson, but he's been out of the college game. We gone thru all the WKU connections.
Yeah, I don't think announcing Keatts would be a huge disruption to that team. They are on a mission especially after the Ware injury.

There may be many who are so doing. Last year 2883 contributors. So far this year with 13 days till the football seating deadline for pledges and 50% contributions there have been 1125. That's not quite 40% of last years total.
Coach Blow a guy who doesn't have a shot, but I really liked. He was very easy to talk to. He would do a pretty good job. He recruited Ga for us and did a good job. Him, Gattison and Travis all former ODU assitance coaches, fit the bill and would love the job.
Not sure I understand the importance of a minority hire. What purpose does that serve, exactly?

LOL...+1, I agree completely!

I have to believe that Felton is not the guy right now, otherwise, why wait? I'm convinced he's the coaching equivalent of a student's "safety school". You've got him unless something better comes along.

Please....let something better come along!

That may have something to do with it; however most of that is the mid to low level donors with football season tix waiting until the last minute so as to estimate what the minimum donation will be required in order to still be able to renew.
Any state job it's important part of the search and will be strongly consider. ODU is a very diverse college and the staff needs to reflect that.

Or maybe they feel better suited to spand money on road trips to UNC, ECU, Maryland, and Pitt instead of dumping money for home games that are both uninteresting and meaningless?
