blah Wrote:Lush Wrote:Alright NIU, I gave Kyuss another listen. I can honestly say that I judged waay too prematurely. I think I only listened to one song before that. Thanks, yet again.
As for some current/ soon to be released albums:
LCD- Friggin awesome. Dancing my ass off everywhere I play it
The following thanks to Blah: Save for Bishop Allen
Stars- Love it. "In Our Bedroom After the War" Can you pick a better album title? "Take me to the riot" flat out rocks. Torque and Amy play soo well together. Seems like these guys have something on their minds? No?
Architecture in Helsinki- I'm kinda mixed on this one. I love AIH, but was the deal w/ Cameron's voice? It's growing on me, but it ain't the Helsinki that I know.
Bishop Allen- What can I say, great friggin album. It's a shame "Charm School" is outta print, cause that is def worth a few thousand listens.
Tegan & Sara- Try keeping this disc outta my rotation.
Here you go Ziggy...
Bishop Allen - Charm School
Thanks Blah, though, I've already boughten it. It was pricey and used but worth every penny.
Here's another album that's been getting some listening:
Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan- Ballad of Broken Seas
All i have really been listening to is what i listed as puttin my ch changer a few posts back ....put the cd changer on random.
Music bores me now.
My 2 year old son insists on listening to Spoon's "Underdog" over and over. Good stuff.
These guys sound a little like a Mazzy Star/Imogen Heap mixture with a little harder edge.
Musically she is pretty good, but her voice drags the album down...
John Lennon - Shaved Fish (on vinyl)
Check out this track list.
Side One: Give Peace a Chance, Cold Turkey, Instant Karma, Power to the People, Mother, Women is the N******* of the World,
Side Two: Imagine, Whatever gets you through the night, Mind Games, #9 Dream, Happy X-Mas (War is Over)/Give Peace a chance reprise
Beatles - Let it Be
alright, I didn't realize, I was on such a Beatles kick lately until I made this post. It was all pretty random really. The CD was in the car and the vinyl went on as I worked in the basement. Anyway, would this be a good time to say I started watching the documentary
The US vs John Lennon tonight?
non-Beatles listening: A couple different Paste CD samplers.
Haha, since my feet were in the pool, I've decided to just jump into the deep end and continue my Beatles trend. This morning, I listed to Sgt Peppers on my ride in and I'm currently listening to Revolver [UK version] at work.
Now I wish I had Rubber Soul or Abbey Road.
Also, I listened to some live stuff on Archive.org yesterday, including a live Spoon concert. BTW, Archive.org has added a nice little applet where you can listen to the tracks right on the web page. Makes browsing a whole lot easier now.
MIA- Kala. Solid listen. Maybe a bit better than Arular.
Daniel Johnston, Daniel Johnston, Daniel Johnston
How have I missed this guy for so long. I mean I knew the name, but never really heard the song...except for the Wilco cover, but I didn't know who's song it was at the time. Anyway, this guy is incredible. If you haven't seen the film The Devil and Daniel Johnston, go rent it. It's fabulous.
Lately, I've also listed to some Peter Bjorn and John, Paul Westerberg, The Replacements and the oldies radio station.
That New Porn disc is amazing! Awesome. Love Neko Case. I also truly enjoy hearing Bejar's voice. I highly recommend this album.

Woot!!
Huh. New Band of Horses? Unaware. I bought their first disc at Dr. Fraud's in Manitowoc, WI. Not too sure about them. I like MMJ better. The album's good, but it gets very few spins. The Funeral is a great song, but I love St. Augustine and Weed Party better. Better than "Everything?" If so I'll give it a listen. For me it's been:
I think it is pretty good. Sounds more like a total work than "Everything All The Time", however I agree that St. Augustine and The First Song are probably still my favorite songs.
Danielson - Ships
Bright Eyes - Motion Sickness
Keane - Broken Little Words
Justice - T
More Daniel Johnston. Good friggin stuff.
The Black Keys - Live EP, The Moan & Thickfreakness
BRMC - Screaming Gun EP (I tried to get into that "bluesy" album they put out a couple years ago, but beyond the first single, it didn't do anything for me. However, between this EP and the stuff I've heard from the most recent record, I'm starting to like these guys).
Ben Harper - Burn to Shine (Anyone like this whole disc? I can't get into the first half of this record, but the second half is incredible. I also started listening to his new record. So far, so good.
Last week, I grabbed three records from the library, two by the Silver Jews and one by the Silversun Pickups. They were pretty good, but I thought I'd like them a whole lot more.
I've also listened to the last two Hot Slop podcasts and some random stuff on the computer (Dinosaur Jr, AC Newman, Paul Westerburg/Replacements Rarities)

I really like the Silversun Pickups album. I haven't heard the new Ben Harper yet and I have heard a lot of good things about the Silver Jews, but have yet to hear them.

David Berman kicks ass. Love the Silver Jews and Pavement. I've listened to most of the Ben Harper record. It's what I've come to expect of him. He seems to be getting duller. The last album I thoroughly enjoyed was the Blind Boys disc.
Love the Danielson album, Blah. Good listen. And Dyno, nice to hear your kid's getting a good education. Keep it up. You'll have a solid indie brat to raise and learn from.
As for me
M.I.A.- Kala
Sufjan Stevens- Illinios. Try, try getting this off my rotation.
Still, New Pornographers- Challangers
Los Campesinos- Sticking Fingers Into Sockets EP
Oohhhh forgot about
The Go Team! Proof of Youth
Yeah, they might be the flavor of the month, but I'm down.
Thanks, Lush. We were back to Peter Bjorn & John yesterday and this morning.
I love Sufjan Steven's
Come on Feel the Illinoise album. It's one of those records that built up for me. I liked a few songs on it at first but the rest didn't do it for me. The second time I listened, I was blown away. I don't know where my head was the first time around. Maybe I wasn't ready for it. Unfortunately, I don't really know too much off any of his other records. What's the next step?
I also gave this a listen today.
Urge Overkill - Exit the Dragon (it came out 12 years ago this week...and I'm still waiting for their next)
