Somehow, someway, I always end up back to the Stones...

The Black Crowes were always good for some southern rock for sure. That said, when they went a little softer it just wasn't as good. Which is why I think I find myself more into their firs two and portions of their 3rd album than their later stuff. The later stuff in too many spots lacked that rock edge.

So the Crue is covering Madonna tunes for that new movie?

Its not that bad and does that have that Crue twist.

Dirt was pretty good. A good movie take on how each of them got to where they were before they became the Crue, how the Crew formed, and how life as Motley Crue was.

My own take on MC is the following: I knew who they were in jr high but never realy listened to them and then Dr. Feelgood came out. I got that tape. It was great. I borrowed Decade of Decadence from a friend when it came out and I actually liked a lot of their older material. Later on, with a sale though BMG Music club I got their entire back catalog up through Dr. Feelgood. Yeah, their glam style gave them a lot of grief but their ability to make it darker than say Twisted Sister was their hook. Yeah a lot of metal from that era was cookie cutter and disposable but the reason poeple still give a damn about Motley Crue is they had the thing. A lot of those bands didn't have "the thing."

So, the new joints accompanying the movie release are:

I still like some tunes from Motley's first two albums but after those releases they went metal pop. Covering Like A Virgin takes away a lot of their credibility in my opinion. Music is in the ear of the beholder so I don't begrudge what people listen to. I'll still give my opinion when its posted on here though...

This is one of my favs they ever recorded and I remember cranking this song many times in my car driving around with my high school buddies. It has a punk edge to it...

Thanks for that post HoustonCougarNation. Here's another...

Personally, I found Dr. Feelgood to be their overall best work. If I looked across their albums before that one I would cut a lot of tracks and make a good hits record.... aka Decade of Decadence ( lol ).

IMO, a Motley Crue cover of Like a Virgin screams irony.
