I agree. Add one school that brings everything the AAC wants in one package and could lure into the fold (UAB is the only one that checks all those boxes), then wait for Memphis to leave. Then give the 50 potential candidate schools time to work on things they need to work on to make the cut next go ‘round.

They will at least go to 10 so they keep the conference championship game. Its possible they stop at 10 but not likely as they would have to add affiliates in a lot of their Olympic sports.

Is it 10? I thought the rule was the championship game had to be the top two teams after a round-robin schedule.

You don't have to have 10 members to host a championship game. Technically, you could hold a separate championship game with 8 full members, which is the minimum membership requirement to be an FBS conference.

The rule is from Bylaw 17.11.6.2.1 section (b) which says:

Quote:(b) Conference Championship Game.

One conference championship game:

(1) Between division champions of a conference that is divided into two divisions (as equally balanced in number
as possible) and conducts round-robin, regular-season competition in each division; or

(2) Between the top two teams in the conference standings following full round-robin regular-season competition among all members of the conference

TV money and NCAA credits are real. Marshall is in a spread out conference that pays it about 2.2 million with the worst media deal in D1. If we can trade this spread out conference for another spread out conference with the 6th best media deal, potential for multiple NCAA bids, and an extra 3+ million in conference revenue, it’s a complete no brainer.

The additional exposure and teams our fans have heard of would be worth it imo.

Show me where that makes up for the added cost? It sure didnt up till 2012 and CUSA 2.0. All of Marshalls dollars were flat since joining CUSA. Across THE BOARD and if you take into count of inflation. Those numbers are actually down during CUSA 2.0. Even with Houston, S. Miss UCF...

yet some how this time that is going to change. If you decide to actually reply to this post I'm not interested in the Blaaaa Blaaaa Blaaa that you posted a thousand time in the past two weeks. Try to use actual facts to back up your words

Below are the actual facts of when Marshall was playing those same schools and more exposer

adjusted for inflation

...are you ok?

Seriously... his obsession with Marshall is unhealthy. I posted a couple of months ago that I was worried about his mental health.
UAB and Marshall are done deals and they will be in the AAC. Kind of surprised at UTSA and Charlotte or any other two teams as I thought the AAC would stand pat at ten football schools for awhile.

No they aren't done deals. There's zero evidence of this. Marshall fans are taking matt browns opinion as gospel. And he's wrong all the time when he does actual reporting too. Don't jump to conclusions like them

However markets seem to be more important than success and facilities so who knows.

We have a very long history with Louisiana-Lafayette, and know them pretty well.

Over the years, they have had a few opportunities to move “up” and better themselves in perception and competition but they’ve chosen to stay put.

They are satisfied with where they are, and that’s fine. Tech has never been complacent nor satisfied with the status quo. Thus the natural “rub” of our two schools.

They’ve happily resided in the Sun Belt Conference for 30 years (including 20 since they started football), and I’d be really shocked if their philosophy has changed and are seriously pushing to leave the SBC now for the AAC.

I like Tech but when it comes to facilities its a no brainer.
Louisiana would have one of the best basketball AND football stadiums in the AAC.

I was shocked when I saw them both.

Maybe you’re missing my point. It doesn’t matter (and hasn’t mattered) if their facilities are a “no-brainer” — they have never seriously considered leaving the nest they helped build…the SBC.

No sense begging grandma to go to a KISS concert. She ain’t interested.

Grandpa is in, though.
They don’t make music these days like they used to back in my day sonny!!!

Rice, UTSA, UNT, LT, UAB, FAU, Charlotte, Marshall, Buffalo.

That's 9 schools and a total of 17 in the AAC! Great move by them to become the 1st G5 super conference.

17 is a good number.

It gives you an even number for football most years when somebody is taking the year off for NCAA violations (SMU), Paul Jr (UAB) Hurricanes (Tulane), Tornadoes (LaTech) or Covid (ODU).

Wait! Dude, you forgot ODU?!

Wow, This IS hard.
Not sure what will happen, but it is certain that WKUYG and Ragu are upset.

Not at all. I don't care about what hack writers guess will happen. I care about what actually happens . What this thread demonstrates is some lack reading comprehension and are desperate to jump to conclusions

Marshall fans are taking one dudes guess who has been wrong a ton as gospel. I'm not

I want an AAC invite and think we deserve it more than Charlotte or UTSA but I don't make those decisions and it's out of my control

Just saying it's a done deal doesn't make it true. If you have insider info, tell us where you got it. Otherwise nobody will believe you.
If the AAC is looking for budgets then Liberty has to be on the phone.
It's a done deal that we will have at least another 10 realignment threads before anything is a done deal.
