Maybe they join the MWC for football only. They like being in AAC west, and it would put them in with the AFA?
If a department head brought me those numbers that spanned 8 years and try to sell me on....

if we just up the budget by 50% and took out all the main hitter and replaced those with programs we complained about playing for the last 3 years. That today with a 50% budget increase those numbers will now all of a sudden increase to cover that extra cost. And do that in a time when more and more people are not spending their money on what we are selling.

I would fire that person on the spot. Does anyone else see it that way and try to set aside your fandom when answering that question? As a businessman this does not make any sense to me...

no matter the names going to the AAC

Some presidents are going to answering some hard questions in 5 years

Exactly the reason why Memphis will be sick to its stomach. But Memphis won't be in the AAC much longer anyways so they'll survive.

This is a message board, logic and reason are not allowed. We prefer Unicorn Farts and Fairy Tears.
My educated guess is FAU, UAB, La Tech and Marshall.

Means as much as a guess from Matt Brown who has been wrong plenty before

Navy doesn’t hate the Herd THAT bad. They agreed to a series with us.
Is it possible that the American would lower lofty goals of budget requirements or at least lower them temporarily to allow the affected programs time to gradually get to that number?

We have fairly low student subsidy for a G5. The people in charge may decide to subsidize more and the American will give a bigger conference distribution by several million.

You could raise the student fees to $1,000 and not raise 7 extra million dollars. Now try doing that in Huntington and see how well that goes over. Poor state and poor people struggling dont like a 6% increase from $8894 to $9,444 and that's without any tuition increase.

Local media would bury Marshall the same way it would in BG

It almost HAS to if it wants to survive.

Those schools don't even come close to replacing UCF, UH, and Cincinnati. They can have Charlotte and UTSA. UTSA leaving opens up a spot in the MWC for Rice. I hope this news is accurate, and not poop...
Then possibly 2-4 more to the Sun Belt

Local media will almost universally applaud the ambition. Not convinced we are going yet, but you are misreading Marshall. And 3-4 million makes us competitive in football and basketball budgets—all that matters.

It's not because of Marshall. At that point they're in CUSA2.0 with two additional teams that didn't have football when 2.0 was around.

Just saw the tweet. He puts the word "GUESS" in all caps. Plus, didnt we hear that UTSA said no already? Who knows. My GUESS is UAB wants to go, but also wants to know who the heck will be there with them before they say yes officially.

I am also not convinced MU is going to the AAC. But you are correct the local media would support it. As it stands know MU would have two schools in North Carolina and two schools in bordering states all with name recognition. Memphis will be gone, but still the a nice basis for a conference.

Agreed. After seeing this I’m guessing Marshall informed them they could not make the financial jump required, following in UTSA’s footsteps. This in turn has possibly led to AAC dropping said requirements, at least temporarily.
