That extended series will likely decide both ODUs and Charlotte’s chances at an at-large.

We certainly have a very entertaining team. We can score runs in bunches and give them up in bunches as well. No lead is safe.

We seem to have a gritty team. They battle hard.

I can't truly question Finwood's pitching moves without knowing all the details. But I was thinking that Gertner was pulled too early in Friday's game. Pitch count? Injury? Not sure of the whole story there.

Using Hartline for 2 innings in a 14-0 blowout in game 2 was strange. Thought he should have been saved for the last two games of the series. It didn't hurt us though.

Winning 3 of 4 games in 3 days is hard. This crazy schedule is going to be interesting. We will need a deep pitching staff. Which makes me wonder what the story is with Rivera (hasn't pitched in a month) and Muly (hasn't pitched all season). Anyone know?

As a long time Yankee fan, it was interesting to see sons of three former Yankees on the FIU team. The sons of Joe Girardi, Raul Ibanez, and Orlando (El Duque) Hernandez all played in the series. Add to that, Tony Womack's son played against us for Norfolk St. Womack played for the Yankees for one season but Yankee fans probably know him better for his unlikely hit against Mariano Rivera in Game 7 of the 2001 World Series that help win it for Arizona.
Tony Womack's son may have been conceived that very night.

We made 3 errors on routine plays in the big inning that FIU scored so many runs to tie the game. IMO, we could improve our defense with a little work. We can definitely hit so we should never really be out of games. Never a dull moment at the games we’ve been to.
With aluminum bats and the way we hit, we're never out of a game.
CUSA is now the 6th rated conference in RPI, nicely done.

ODU receiving votes in the Coaches Poll, up to 34th.

Yes, and IMHO this should be the norm given that the conference has teams in Florida, Texas, and other southern states with warm weather.
We lost a really good soul with Annette’s passing. I’ll miss seeing her hold court in rally alley. Blessings up for Chris and their children.

A nice piece on Coach Finwood from Harry here on win #500 and a lot more.
Looks like the year of hitters. Final from Huntington ODU won 12-1 at the end of 8.
Finwood "I really was touched by Marshall's gesture of wearing purple socks in honor of Annette's passing from pancreatic cancer. First class in every way!"

Way to go Marshall
ODU took both games (8-7) and (8-0) of the double header vs Marshall. The Monarch are 20-5 this season, only a handful of teams have 20 wins.
Get the broom out for tomorrow’s game. I’m impressed that there are no let downs with this team.
Rollin’, Rollin’, Rollin’....

Charlotte just shocked the world with their performance vs FAU.
This is great news for us with that 8 game home and home with them. Our schedule should be strong enough to get us an at large bid as long as we split with FAU, Charlotte and LT, and win a strong majority of the rest.

Gotta stay healthy. Good to see an ODU team playing at a high level. It’s been a while
