Wes Miller’s brother, a 7’1 walk-on at UNC enters the transfer portal this morning.

Only at UNC would you be able to get a 7'1" walk-on center lol

Pretty crazy that Wes is listed at 5’11 & has a 7 foot bro!
Just saw an IG story from Mike Saunders saying that he won't be committing today. That is good news for the Bearcats. He is at least willing to hear Miller out.
How the heck did Wes Miller’s gene pool spit out a 7’1” dude? He looks to be about 5’8”. Like Mick Cronin and Manute Bol being related. Lol

Nope - I don't think it's quite like that.

Have you see his wife? Talk about out kicking your coverage. Dude has to be 7’1 from the waist down. lol.

I don't think he will have any issues with "high major" recruiting
UNC has 3 big men still in the portal. I would think Walker is looking for a scholarship, which I doubt he would get here, but we would obviously welcome him with open arms as a walk-on. Garrison Brooks is a guy who could step in and potentially start at center. And Sterling Manley is from the Columbus area. He was a bench guy who put up impressive stats in limited minutes his first two years, but he's missed almost two entire seasons with injuries ever since. I wouldn't be surprised if Wes puts out feelers to Brooks and Manley; Brooks as a potential starter and Manley as a guy who can back up the 4 and 5 (if healthy).

I think 2 of their other guys hit the portal this am.

How can he have a brother in college? That would be like 15 years difference minimum

Different mothers. This explains the height differential as well.
Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere or if this is the thread to post it, but:

Quote:Mike Saunders Jr., a freshman guard this past season for the Cincinnati Bearcats who entered the NCAA transfer portal in March, posted on his Instagram account that he wouldn't be announcing his commitment Thursday as previously expected.

Stockrisers.com's Jake Weingarten reported Monday via Twitter that Saunders completed virtual meetings with Wichita State and BYU and would make his college choice on Thursday. Saunders retweeted it.

Could he be re-considering?

At this point I'd be surprised if Saunders doesn't return.
The only players that left that I would be excited to see return would be Tari Eason and Zach Harvey.

The other guys who left, Saunders, both Madsens, should be easy to find upgrades in the portal to replace.

Eason and Harvey are the only two who seem to have elite potential.

If several reports are correct sounds like Miller went to Indy today to personally meet with Saunders and family and is then flying to Seattle. Impressive. My guess is he also looked up Mike Roberts the assistant from IU somewhere on his trip to Indy. Interesting times.

If true, sounds like we have a coach that works his a$$ off instead of just never mind. Love it!

He's got an intro conference tomorrow so he's either taking advantage of the time difference and flying the red eye or it's going to be a zoom conference. LOL
Works his ass off vs works at being an ass, perhaps?

I feel like Harvey's gone, but Madson, Saunders and Eason are all possibilities. I'm hypothetically open to any of them, but it would need to be a two-way sale with them explaining to me why I'd want them back at UC and ensuring that we'd have clarity and alignment on how things will be done. Miller seems to have stronger personal skills than Brannen, but it also sounds like he's every bit as demanding as Brannen on the practice court if not more so.

Based upon our limited knowledge, I'd probably pass on Madson but give Saunders and Eason legitimate consideration. With the guys staying and those two we'd have a nice nucleus and the flexibility to make some strong adds in the portal to really round out the roster.
