Veteran 4 from IU. Bit of a banger.

Jarron Coleman, the MAC Freshman of the year last year, just entered the portal from Ball State. 6'5" SG averaging 14 points and 5.1 rebounds on 47/43/78 shooting and dropped four 30 point games this season. Definitely a baller regardless of the achool he is coming from.

Yes, please.

Here are his freshman (2019-20) year highlights:

Played at Indianapolis Catholic power Cathedral, which is the same high school Indiana transfer Armaan Franklin played for. Was a mid 3-star recruit out of high school, but only had mid-major offers:

Looks like a guy who can score in a lot of different ways. Efficient scorer and can create for others. Turns the ball over a lot -- that's the only glaring negative I see. That said, he played a lot of point guard at Ball State. He wouldn't need to play point as much here, but not sure if that's a deal breaker for him or not. Had a good defensive rating as a freshman and a so-so one as a sophomore, but to be fair, Ball State took a big step back as a team defensively this year. Hope the staff gets in on him.
Reading through a Ball State message board, they feel Coleman was out of position at point guard, which may explain the turnovers.
Turns the ball over a lot? Sign him up, he will fit right in!

God, this board is depressing.
Most freshman turn it over.
i can't find the post but someone posted all the programs in the region and their transfer numbers. IIRC, the post listed 0 for Pitt, which even at the time, was incorrect since two guards had entered the transfer portal within 24 hours of each other a day or two previously. Since then...

Quote:There has been another departure from the Pitt men’s basketball program as center Karim Coulibaly has elected to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.

Coulibaly becomes the fifth member from this year’s roster to decide to transfer, joining guard Xavier Johnson, wings Au’Diese Toney and Gerald Drumgoole and center Terrell Brown.

I think that's technically a form of turnover as well.
So X has 4 in the portal...thought that was just a Bearcat thing...

Just for posterity, how many of them are guys who started games as freshmen for the guy who recruited them?
Seems UC was just ahead of the curve.
Cincinnati’s John Brannen recently completed a virtual meeting with USF transfer David Collins, a source told

. The Bearcats looking to add multiple transfers this cycle.

In addition, Collins completed virtual s with Duquesne’s Keith Dambrot and K-State’s Bruce Weber
Really, really think that guy’s game is a team and coach killer.

He's very similar to Keith. If he can convince yetna to come with I'm in. Not particularly keen on bringing him in otherwise.

No he’s not. If you complained about Keith this past year this kid will make you stroke out. He’s the kind of guy you like having on the team you play. If he is Keith’s replacement, Lord help us.

Their games are similar. Both are best getting to the rim. Both draw fouls. Both high usage. Collins shooting numbers are better but turns it over more.
Collins is a guy who does lots of little things that don’t show in the stat sheet...that’s not a meant as a compliment.

It’s when and how he turns the ball over down the stretch in competitive games, too. He’s prone to vapor lock, blown assignments and playing like he has 5 thumbs on each hand in crunch time. Never have I watched USF and thought now here is a guy who could improve UC’s fortunes.

He is not a guy you sell on getting starters minutes. If they are talking to him they are telling him he can step into Keith’s role. Ick.
