And I agree with Mark. There still may be some turns and twists in the next month.

Graduate transfer center Nysier Brooks has signed to play with Mississippi. The 7-footer, whose signing was announced Tuesday, played last season at Miami. Brooks averaged 7.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game last season while shooting 51.7% from the field.

My bad. I thought he went to MSU.

What do you mean by "too much" damage? I think it's clearly an upgraded, deeper roster from last season. I'm optimistic with development of the guys who have been here and a few new guys proving a good fit, they'll be competing for a tournament bid. I don't think you're going to be watching a team struggle to finish a game over .500.

I think they will do better than a game over .500 as well. Start of last year was a disaster, but not sure how much better they will be. You lose Keith and Tari which will have big impact and I don't think we replaced that talent at same level.

Tari was a loss of talent, but he only averaged 19 minutes and 7 points a game last
year. He had talent, but for most of the year it was unfulfilled. Hensley is just as talented as Eason on paper, and Oguama is more experienced.

Williams wasn't really a top talent IMO. He's a good player, but I don't see a big drop from Williams to the guys who will take most of his minutes (Newman or Madsen).

In my opinion, both keith williams and tari eason were disappointing last season. Williams never seemed to take over leadership on the team as a senior and Tari became a turnover machine the last few games of the season. Williams puzzled me more with the horrible missies of layups and Chris Vogt even lost his hook shot from the previous year and was seeming to just throw a shot up. Time for new blood and let's see what happens.

I agree--all three players had talent and ability and I was often perplexed about their failures on the court. Retrospectively, it appears there was a lot happening off the court and while I won't blame Brannen for every failing last season, certainly not seeing these players achieving at the level we felt possible now makes me wonder just how toxic the environment may have been.
Ado and Koval will be an awesome rotation from a rim protection perspective...crazy how well we upgraded there in one off season.
It’s clear Wes Miller wants to pressure the ball and have insurance on the back end.
This team is actually REALLY experienced now. We basically have 7 guys with significant starting experience:

Ado - 130 starts
Oguama - 42 starts
Koval - 103 starts
MAW - 36 starts
Newman - 40 starts
Dejulius - 17 starts, 30 min/game last year
Davenport - 15 starts, 29 min/game last year

Even some of the guys at the end of the bench played real minutes last year:

Saunders - 10 starts, 16 min/game last year
Madsen - 20 min/game last year
McGinnis - 15 min/game last year
Hensley - 7 min/game last year
Lahkin - redshirt last year
What's the chances of KD Johnson the transfer from Georgia picking UC tomorrow?

I suspect if we sign anyone else it's going to be a wing with some length, but who really knows.

Slim, we're out of scholly's unless we cut someone

I don't think it's very likely. While he would arguably be the most talented player on the roster, we don't have the open scholarship and even if we find a way to make it work, I'm not sure pushing an upperclassman like DDJ or MAW to the bench for an incoming transfer would be conducive to creating the type of culture Wes wants/needs to create. I think DDJ and MAW are penciled in as starters unless Saunders pushes DDJ for his starting spot, which I think is less likely to cause strife in the locker room since he's a returning player. Only way KD is coming here is if DDJ or MAW have informed the staff they are leaving. I've heard nothing to indicate either player is likely to enter the portal, so I'm putting the odds on KD at slim-to-none.
He’s heading to Auburn from what folks in Athens think.
I like this pickup. Kid's career block numbers quite a bit better than Brooks and he's a solid ft shooter for a bid kid. Seems from interviews he's a good team guy as well. Wish we had him for more than a year, but i think he's done a solid job of getting the roster to a point to compete immediately. Kid has good game against Florida and Uk last year s as well. He's faced really good competition his 4 years.
When are these guys officially part of the team? Is that 6/1? I know they have committed but they aren't on the roster at gobearcats.com yet.

If my memory is accurate, I didn't think they usually updated the roster on the website until like September.
I would think that they wouldn't put someone on the website until they've enrolled in classes.
Was Koval granted the waiver that he needed?
looking forward to seeing the nigerian nightmares and the old guard

UC has an abundance of guards now. Let's look for another inside player.
Apparently Koval has more career blocked shots than Kmart.

It sounds like we are going from having basically no rim protection, to having perhaps two of the best shot blockers in the league.

I think we're going to back to being a damn good defensive team.
