Me too honestly...I'm not as miffed about the basketball stuff as I thought I would be, mainly because the highs of the football program have made me feel FAR better than the highs of the basketball program in my life (including the Huggins years). I played both sports growing up...I just feel like football is a more fun sport to be good at nowadays.
UC Football feels like a corporation that has the resources, the management team, and is implementing its strategic plan to succeed.
Basketball is starting to feel like a food truck that decides where to set up for that day over coffee.

This was is the first one that really worries me. He really came on. He developed a ton throughout the year and was an encouraging sign of what we could see as Brannen got his guys. If there really is a mass exodus things could get bad.

I believe Saunders and Eason were roommates too. I’d be surprised if Eason stays at this point.

I think we have enough data points now with guys quitting mid season and transferring out to know there is a cultural problem that may just start at the top.
The restart year 2 was expected and why I've been patient. This offseason was going to be program defining. Not off to a good start.
If things fall apart we better start looking elsewhere quickly.

I don't think it's just one thing going wrong with the program, its a multitude of things. I think Covid is an easy excuse for guys to find greener pastures, and teams winning now. Some guys probably can't handle the adversity of not being "the guy" anymore and think a program change will fix that, and lastly some of the blame needs to be put on the coach for not selling his vision well enough. The Covid year also did not allow these guys to buy into the University as there was no campus life or crowds.
I think it also hurts that CJB has never been able to establish "his culture" as he never has had any roster stability, Some of that is his fault, but when you get a late start, and have to bring in so many new players you are never going to get it established, and this is likely what will be his undoing here in another year.
My only question, and maybe things will change in a year or two, but how do you build any sort of program if these guys are all going to test the free agency/portal waters? It's not just UC. We are seeing guys leave solid programs with respected coaches as well.
With how things are progressing it will take 2 or 3 years to build up any sort of roster.

I thought firing the guy was premature, but there really isn’t any reason to keep him around. He has no players anymore, and no one on the hook.
Saunders was a guy who Brannen said he'd know since 7th grade too. I'm officially worried.
We're going to have to fill 10 scholarships this year by the end of this.
It's time for Brannen to go. Even if none of this is his fault and just bad luck (unlikely but who knows), it's time for him to go.
We are staring at a complete rebuild and we would need a miracle to turn it around in 2 years. Keeping Brannen and giving him two years to turn it around is putting him in a horrible position. Recruiting will be horrible, guys don't want to go play for a coach on the hot seat who seems to have a major locker room problem.
Better to get rid of Brannen, bring in a new coach and give him 4/5 years to rebuild. In 2 years Brannen has brought us to rock bottom, so the new coach isn't going to have to have the high expectations that Brannen did. He will have the expectations early on that Cronin did and maybe that's better for a coach in the long run.
Something is seriously wrong.

We now have 8 open scholarships and counting heading into year 3. Late signing period starts April 14th. We are Yukon Cornelius.....nothin’.
This team is going to be primarily a Frankenstein experiment of rent a players with a few euro gems mixed in.
This is unacceptable.
