Very true, since he was able to get both Stiths to be not on scholarships for at least a year each.

Because if they say no he will just tell admissions to reject the application, lol.

I agree. I believe that Jeff needs to get a transfer center that can hold his ground in the post defensively similar to how Robinson was able to do this past season. Barring that, they should get a freshman that can at least man up in the position even if they don't have the experience (like Ezikpe did). They are currently too thin at center with just Dickins and Ezikpe. They are an injury, foul trouble, ejection, illness, death in the family absence, etc. away from having no reasonable backup.

I think Ezikpe can be that guy. Give him an offseason to strengthen up and he may be our best forward since Dahi. That said, we likely wouldnt have gone to the tournament without Robinson. His play in the CUSA final was his finest game as a Monarch, and maybe as a college athlete.

Ezikpe can maybe do well at holding his position down low, but he still gives up a lot of size (height) to some of the bigger centers that ODU will certainly encounter. I certainly have more confidence in him bodying up to a guy like Bassey and keeping him from routinely getting anywhere he wants to post up than I do with Dickins.

Also - and mainly what I was saying - is that if either Ezikpe or Dickins is not available for any reason at all, ODU has no reasonable backup to insert for the one that is remaining and starting unless they recruit someone to replace Robinson. As it stands now, ODU is an injury away from having to play someone like Carver (for example) significant minutes at center in just about every game unless our available center is going to pull a Caver and play 38+ minutes a game - which is highly unlikely.

The name for the gym at Paul the VI in Fairfax. Looks like someone on the Lady Monarch staff was there to see Bella Perkins;

Thanks for clearing that up for me 13. Hope Nikki gets Bella on board since I saw on your link that they had offered her. She had a nice Twitter photo of herself in the link that you shared.

There is a noticeable absence of Joe Reece in this discussion. He seemed to have.some potential in his limited time last season. Any word on how he is progressing?
Last I heard he needs to put some work in.

Good luck finding a 3rd string "center."

Bryant Stith spoke on the post game after our loss to Purdue and in his comments he talked a little of next season. In his comments he mentioned Reece and stated that Reece had shown a lot of imrovement in practice during the season and he expected him to make an impact next season. That is all I have heard about Reece lately.

Glad you aren't the coach or at least responsible for the team's recruiting. Why would a transfer, or a grad transfer center have to automatically be viewed as 3rd string without even knowing who they are or what their experience and college results were prior to coming to ODU?

Trey Porter (for example) transferred out prior to last season to a better team than ODU and started for them. Robinson transferred to ODU from a higher profile SEC school (LSU) prior to last season and started for us. If your goal is to recruit a 3rd string center then go out and get an undersized walk on like 6'-7" Vassor, or reach higher, take the best you can get, and let competition determine who starts and who doesn't.

Yes. ODU coaches are getting the best players they can get, and don't care what "string" they are going to be. Don't be fooled, JJ has no issue with benching someone if someone better comes in. Kalu developed in the system at a higher rate later in the season than Dickens. If another player comes in a similar fashion, then Dickens may be losing more and more minutes. I certainly hope that doesn't happen, but I don't see both Kalu/Dickens minutes being a "lock," as I still feel that playing time is constantly earned.

There aren't many transfer centers, available immediately right now, that would earn mins over Ezikpe or Dickens.

Obviously JJ and staff are going to try to get the best players they can possibly get. Transfers that are available immediately are going to want to go to spots where they can play (Robinson).
I'll take another Robinson.
