Either he got his shot blocked, got in too deep to score, got cut off from dishing out...whatever, it just seemed like the offense stuttered when he was doing more than sitting outside and shooting. I'm not sure he is a facilitator. Granted he was in the shadow of Caver even when on the court. It wasn't like he had that many reps with Caver on the bench.

Therefore, I'm glad for Curry's commitment. Like Bit_9 said, both of these guys graduate in two seasons. We should get a HS PG now with the intent to redshirt next year.

Lastly, agree, another big body grad transfer would be awesome. Reece will not be that body inside.

So way to early starting lineup: Curry, Godwin/Oliver, Green, Kalu and Dickens.

I am not sure we were watching the same games. In the very few instances when he was running the point, our offense was actually significantly better, and more players were involved. You may be confusing times when he was playing the 2 along side Caver. I would argue that the 2 is not his natural position. I see Kithcart and a mid major version of Jared Harper.

Not going to disagree with you. Maybe the instances were done with Caber in. I just have memories of him doing poorly when driving at times.

He made some boneheaded plays and he made some great plays. No different than 99% of sophomores. My assumption is that he would step up to his new role and the boneheaded plays would go down with experience and starter minutes as they do for most upperclassmen.
Kithcart needs to learn when to go fast and when to slow down and probe. I don't mind his shooting in the flow of the offense but not as the first option. He will be fine and couple with Curry we should be in a good spot at PG. While I would love to see a freshman PG recruit it is not mandatory with Brill,Wade, X in rare circumstances.

At this point, it's hard to imagine anyone earning many mins on this team unless they are a stud. I would be open to a developmental player or a sit 1 year transfer.

Curry/Kitchart....Oliver/Wade/Green/Godwin.....Carver/Reece/Ezikpe/Dickens

My point so why waste it on a freshman PG. I would take an athlete or best player at another position like PF, C, SF,SG, vs PG.

I would not be tied down to a PG at all, but it would be nice to have a successor in place after the next 2 years. Its still manageable to get a PG next year.

Yes, I think the team is in good position to take the best freshman they can find.

Your "good riddance" attitude sounds good in principle, but it is a proven schit organizational management practice. It is my opinion that adding this guy was an unnecessary risk unless Wade is leaving and there is a real risk that Kith is ineligible. Guards are ball handlers were the least of our concerns at least as far as the public knows. We have 2 forwards that need to improve rapidly, Reece who wasted the year, plus Carver who is what he is.

I say that all recruits are all "risks." That said, since he was high on their list, I wouldn't classify him as "unnecessary." I can tell you straight up, that no one is transferring out of this program during this off-season (i.e. Wade is not leaving). If there are any subtractions, which I certainly hope does not occur (but it happens all the time), it will be due to non-basketball issues. If any new additions occur it will be at the guard spot. I don't foresee any 4 or 5-man recruits coming in this year. I would love to see a couple of 4-5 star recruits to fill the opens spots, but I try to stay as objective as I can.

Congratulations and welcome Jaylin Hunter.

I’m assuming what made his decision so tough is the probability that he knows he will be required to redshirt his first year.
Awesome. Predicted this today to a fellow season ticket holder at work.
Here is a great article about Hunter from last Christmas’ Hartford Courant.

Great news! Welcome to the Monarchs Mr. Hunter.
Now this one I am happy about. A freshman and a coach's son. Now let's get a local Frank Hassel type project.

Exactly Nukesquad. Wade is not a PG. yes, he proved he could be capable of handling the position for limited minutes if needed but just because you can handle the ball it does not mean you are a point guard. Wade is going to be one of those guys that Jones can plug into most any position but his talents appear to be more in line with the 2 pr 3 position. Kudos to the staff for continuing to recruit a point guard. Just because you have one on the team that looks plenty capable ( Kithcart) you don't put all of your eggs in one basket.

I’m not sure redshirting a kid is to our benefit any longer the way it used to be. Just seems more likely that a player will grad transfer at the end of their career. The landscape has changed.

Good point. You’re probably right.
It sure doesn't sound like he's planning on redshirting.
