Hey haven’t heard much about recruiting, anyone have any updates, rumors etc? Wonder if we are waiting for any more transfers to make announcements? Jones has done pretty well on that front. Anyway, just asking if anyone has heard anything.

ODUCoach seems to be a real good on the info for the recruiting front. All I have heard (and maybe not a great source) is we really want another "Big Man" like 6'10" or up. If we can't land that we will go for the best player we can get for any other place on the floor.

That makes sense. I am guessing that Jones long term plan for Ezikpe is to play him at the 4. That would leave room for another center to mix in with Dickens. Jones said in one of the post game shows they would like to try Ezikpe at the 4 but to my knowledge they have not tried that as yet.
I really hope they plan to play Zip at the 5 going forward. Mixing in a few mins per game at the 4 beside Dickens.

I get what you are saying but don't you think Ezikpe and Dickens would be a load to handle in the future? They both can shoot, rebound, and block shots.

Not a huge advantage rebounding unless Dickens improves. One of those would have to guard a 4 and if they are mobile, they would struggle. Not enough spacing on offense.

I'm with you on this. Kalu and Dickens playing together would present match up problems for lots of teams we would play. It would put Kalu at his more natural position.

I remember a couple of big guys named Mark West 6'-10" and Kenny Gattison 6'-8" playing together very successfully for ODU (for example).
Completely different game

Yes, I definitely remember them. Good call.

I agree. That team was much better than this team is.

Very few programs utilize two true bigs. One has to have the skill set to play and defend on the perimeter

Lol. What argument? That Kalu should only plan on playing at the 5 for all but a few possible minutes that he might occasionally play at the 4 along side of Dickins? Or that the game has so drastically changed in your mind that a player like Kalu can't start along side someone else playing the center position?

Those were your opinions.

We will see Kalu play the 4 in future years. You can count on that unless injuries to our centers force him to play the middle.
