Ohio State is likely going to crush us next season.

I really wonder how many OSU games you've watched if you have that mentality and we have our guards coming back. Bates-Diop should go NBA after this season if he has any sense, and they've got NOTHING on the back end outside of Kaleb Wesson (who did put up one of the craziest stat-lines I've seen in a HS game in awhile last year). They are extremely light on roster talent, but their coaching is stellar, and the Big Ten is god awful outside of MSU and Purdue, so they'll look better than they probably are.

I am fairly sure that Tate of tosu is a senior this year. He is the glue that holds them together. Arguably, he is their best player even though he doesn't put up the best stat lines.

Or for sure...he's a throwback type forward. 6'4" but battles his ass off and really sets the tone for the team. He'll be a huge loss as well. If Bates Diop leaves, they will not have a single kid on the team RIGHT NOW who can score consistently at all. Now they may get someone, but they really don't have anyone on the roster at the moment that I'm in the least bit slightly startled by, let alone scared.

I watched a good part of that Michigan State game, and I agree. Tate, Williams, and (likely) KBD are gone. They actually only have six other scholarship players. Kaleb Wesson is going to be a great player, and they have some nice recruits coming in, but they'll take a step back next year.
As I've noted many times when selection show season gets here...the committee has always cared most about your RPI top 25/50/100 wins/losses. This year the team sheets are going to be arranged differently.

There will be quadrant 1 wins/losses (top30home/1-50Neutral/1-75 away)
There will be quadrant 2 wins/losses (31-75home/51-100Neutral/76-135away)

If UC puts up a gaudy record this could be really good for them (provided the committee sticks to this grouping mechanism). UC already is 4-2 in quadrant 1 games and 2-0 in quadrant 2 games. Plenty of chances ahead to really get a nice seed. Here's how other teams compare:

Great info Mark! 04-cheers
Not sure where else to put this, so parking it here. For ***** and giggles, I looked up a couple of bracket predictions. The good news is that UC is consistently in the 4, 5, and 6 seed range. And the wonderfully predictable news - since Spokane is inconveniently not hosting this year - 3 of the 5 brackets I saw had us going to......Boise. Of course.

I say we will travel within a reasonable driving distance. This is the year that Fink beats the stomach!

Watching what's happened the past week, especially to visiting teams in conference games, we UC fans should feel pretty good seeing the Bearcats escape Philly with a two point win. The computers will predict a blowout victory @ South Florida this weekend. That's also been a tough venue for UC in past years so I expect a rock fight and I'll take a one point victory. Just keep winning.

It appears the school across town is on Mission Improbable tonight. No shame in losing to #1 on the road but I won't be surprised if Villanova runs them out of the gym either.

Damn I had momentarily forgotten our history with USF. Those games have been absolutely brutal to watch.
I have to believe uc smokes this south Florida team. While never a power south Florida was generally a top 150 type the even making the tourney not too long ago. They have fallen off a cliff. I am guessing it won't be the struggle were accustomed to.

I'm with Mark. I wish we were playing UCF first though...I think the guys could sleepwalk through USF and still smoke them.

With the quick turnaround Saturday to Tuesday I assume the team is just staying in Florida? I hope they get to do something fun and come ready to play at UCF.

I also wonder if we'll have a Troy Caupain sighting at UCF. Looks like his team will be in Canada on Saturday but have a home game Wednesday.

Playing Devil's Advocate, we always seem to play sluggishly down in Florida. As an example, we housed them at home, beating them by 40 but on the road we struggled to score (which is a recurring theme anytime UC travels in conference plays over the Cronin years btw).
I don't know if the guys hit Mars Venus or what the night before the game, but this team has played its best this year when it picks up the pace. Hopefully they go full throttle.

At USF last year, UC never trailed and led by as many as 24 in the second half. It was a blowout. I've not see USF, but looking at their numbers, I'd expect the same this weekend.
