According to one of our genius posters who is on tilt, Sam had all of these offers, but is somehow a bum. 8 of the 9 teams made the tournament this year and TAM probably should have. Incredible.
Memphis
Kansas
Illinois
LSU
Texas A&M
Virginia Tech
Providence
Seton Hall
TCU
And then he went to Memphis. Was evaluated by the staff as having "a long ways to go" and "it’s just a longer learning curve for him."
He was subsequently redshirted after his appearance in the 2nd exhibition game included coming in at the same time as Glennon and Tadarius with under 5 minutes to go.
He obviously saw his path to playing any real time wasn't here.
So he transferred and the above schools all breathed a sigh of relief and...yada yada...he's going to play at FGCU.
And let's get something straight...bigs get all the offers. Even future bums. That's the beauty of taking a flyer on a big...he might work out.
Nick Marshall was offered by UF, Memphis, Bama, UTk, Georgia, IU, KSU.
Stan Simpson played at Illinois and was offered by other big named schools.
Crazy that you really want to die on the Sam Onu hill of awesomeness considering dude isn't even here.
Wrong again. You have no grasp of reality.
Quote:Nick Marshall was offered by UF, Memphis, Bama, UTk, Georgia, IU, KSU.
YOU
Quote:Barring injury to a big (or he somehow defies all scouting and ratings predictions) he won't likely play more than about 6 mpg in limited games.
Quote:So, Marshall comes in a year early, and burns his entire freshman season up on mop up minutes. He is considered raw and is a 4 year player. Why essentially make him a three year player by mothballing him for a year?
ME
Quote:8-12 minutes per game.
Quote:We are going to have games where players get pushed around, or have foul trouble. If he can play at all, he will get at least 8 minutes.
Quote:He is going to play somewhere next year; he isn't going to redshirt, so he won't be losing anything. At worst he will get to practice against 2 and maybe 3 very good bigs. At best, maybe he figures out how to defend and rebound and can give us 8-12 minutes per game against bigger teams or when Shaq is in foul trouble.
Marshall played 8.3 minutes per game, and played 10 minutes or more in 14 games. Not quite 6 minutes per game in a few games here and there. Not quite mop up minutes.
Sorry, if I keep piling on...
I mean, your not really piling on, you conveniently leave a lot of stuff out of that thread...most notably that thread was from 5/2015 when AUSTIN NICHOLS was still expected to play in the fall.
So, basically I noted that Nick wouldn't get minutes at the detriment to Shaq, Austin, Dedric, and KJ--which isn't really crazy.
I thought with those four on the roster and playing, that would leave scraps to Nick at the tune of about 6 minutes a game.
Well, then Austin doesn't show up for the fall--Memphis loses a 25-30 mpg guy down low. THEN, KJ is redshirted after 10 games (after averaging 20 mpg in those 1st 10 games) basically only leaving Shaq and Austin as 4/5 with Burrell in the mix, too.
So, even after Memphis lost the expected 25 mpg from Austin and actual 20 mpg from KJ, Nick only played 120 seconds a game more than I anticipated he would play WITH both Austin and KJ.
Hell, looking at it now, I would bet that Josh would have redshirted Nick (as I posited) since even without 35-40 minutes of expected playing time from Austin and KJ only resulted in Nick getting 8 mpg.
Thanks for playing! Lols.
Absolutely 100% true and I was hoping that you would mention that. You are arguing that Marshall wouldn't have played as much because of Shaq and Nichols. At the same time, you are saying that Sam was a bum and wouldn't have played even though we signed him with only Dandridge on our roster.
Sam playing behind Shaq, Austin and KJ would get no time. Sam playing behind Duren, Dandridge and with Williams available is redshirted for obvious reasons.
Sam with only Dandridge on the roster would have played 8-12 minutes per game. Dandridge has bad knees, commits a foul every 5.8 minutes AND has minutes limited by injuries. Deandre commits a foul every 8.7 minutes and was injured. This is with Duren protecting both of them.
This on the heels of saying that a recruit is defined by the teams offering (you have said that often over the years), and Sam had offers from Memphis, Kansas, Illinois, TCU, Seton Hall, LSU, Providence, TAM, Virginia Tech...and he is a bum.
So (as usual) you are in a heated argument with yourself. Thanks for playing! lols
