The national average when Biden left office was $3.12. So no, it is not lower than the previous administration.

Now, if you're talking about an average for the whole year, 2022 was Biden's worst year. It averaged anywhere from $3.95 to $4.19 depending on whether you used AAA or EIA figures.

Currently, 2026 is on pace to be about the same as 2022. Per AI, using AAA averages, if it stays at $4.33 the rest of the year, 2026 will come in at $3.95 per gallon.

The "price of things" is a big deal unfortunately, and I do think this is gonna cost the R's a race or two in November.

That said, isn't the "cost of things" always an issue regardless of who is in office in the mid-terms? All of this is Look Squirrel stuff unfortunately... Everything costs too much, everything ALWAYS costs too much in the moment.


In the [very] big picture my life has not changed since Trump took over.... I care more about that waaay more than how much it costs to fill my gas tank right now. Every one of these m-fer's (right and left) are screwing us in one way or another. Regardless of who is in office, that is the constant.
