Your head is in the sand on this one.
  • Technically correct in that it wasn't the war itself that was unpopular - people weren't upset that he's attacking Iranians. It's the effects that are deeply unpopular. The effects became Kitchen Table Economics issues. Most of you who are conservative are also older and mostly insulated from these price increases.
  • Trump handled the war like a buffoon. If he's going to bring the lumber, he has to go all the way. He didn't and allowed it to become a drawn out mess. Dems had more wisdom about Trump than we cared to admit - TACO was evident when the truly hard decisions had to be made. All of those big bombing runs were little different than Clinton bombing the Aspirin factory that got Bill the deserved ridicule. What's the saying - "Half measures get you killed"?

My biggest concern, as I have said, was that Iran became another failed state like Libya. Trump was patient with Iran and tried to do one of those deals where everybody gets rich. He needed to try patience. We don't want a failed state. And Iran is, unfortunately, important to the world economy because of their oil. All out bombing creates the possibility of a failed state. But Iran has not been willing.

I think his execution was good (now I don't know all the classified information, so I don't know if anything beyond the MOAB runs summer before last were essential, but it is seeming like it was). His explanation, bravado and inability to stick to the message were all fails.

Its not really that drawn out. Its only been 8 months.

There's nothing positive about our government, ever, no matter which side "wins".

The "win so big they can't claim its rigged" crowd won, big. I think the closest you'll see calls of shenanigans will be in Alaska and Mississippi given they're close. As for chest thumping... I think we're all too exhausted.

The Mississippi Senate race is a major surprise of particular note. That a Dem could run that effectively ...

If they're like me, I'm still in shock. I was hopeful, but never expected this type of blowout.

Imagine if the apparatus gave the dem a chance and some money/help? Kind of the same in Florida, but to a lesser extent.

In Miss ... I wonder what percent of independent voters Colom got. It has to be VERY significant.

RE: 2026 Midterm Elections Open Thread
RCP has House 236-148, D +30

Pickups (Democratic unless stated)
AZ
CA (5)
CO
IA (3)
IN
KY
MO
MT
NC (but there are 9 undecided-Dems have won all 5 so far, so there could be more)
NE
NJ
OH (3)
PA (4)
SC
TN Republican pickup
TX (2 D, 1 R)
UT
VA (2)
WI (2)

One clear pattern is that Republicans lost a lot in the corn belt. High fuel prices kept farmers home or had them voting D.

I’m eager to see 2028 when there’s no more orange man to blindly hate.

I mean, all you have to do is say the word “Trump” and the green haired weirdos show up in droves.

Will they be so motivated for anyone else on earth? Will they develop Rubio derangement syndrome? Would they organize nationwide No Kings protests against JD Vance??

I’m eager to see.

I don't get how you can look around and see the mess America is in and still call hate for Trump "blind". That's more of the rhetoric that caused this huge of a flip. But you do you.

Yeah the brainwashed cultists definitely have their heads in the sand. Anyone with half a brain saw this coming. Iran destroyed Trump. I am someone who went from supporting Trump to hoping he loses everything for the rest of his short life. He bungled the hell out of a simple, easy mission and anything Trump may have accomplished means nothing at all when gas and food prices are high (because of the Iran war).

The conservatives are as blind and delusional as the dems were when they went out to vote for Kamala with smiles on their faces.

LOL! It will be Musk-man Bad! They don't have any solid policies, so they have to run against personalities. Trump was perfect because his constant derisive attacks upon his perceived enemies kept them filled with vitriol.

Lost in all of this one side vs the other is that whoever is elected has to be everyone's president. It will be a good day when that concept is restored. If your policies win you don't tap dance on half of the country. You implement them, sell how they will benefit all, and then show the data if they do. It is the "United" part of United States and why E. Pluribus. Unum. works.

Eh, I just don’t see Democrats doing anything in these two years unfortunately, except trying to get Trump and company impeached and creating legislature catering to socialism/far left causes. Then, in 2028 when they lose, cause they didn’t try to do anything for the general public, they’ll say, “How did this happen?!?”. So, not much to chest thump about. Hope I’m wrong, but….

Trump did some of that. (All of it, admittedly, both good and bad.)

The "apparatus" outspent the Republican by 40 points. The spending wasn't even close.
