Will they be so motivated for anyone else on earth? Will they develop Rubio derangement syndrome? Would they organize nationwide No Kings protests against JD Vance??

I’m eager to see.

Yes they would. Unless public opinion changes drastically on Trump in the next two years, the dems will easily be able to run a campaign saying a vote for Vance or Rubio is a vote for Trump. Just like how they ran against Trump instead of the individual candidates in the mid terms. Since Vance and Rubio are so deep in the Trump admin it makes it easy for them to run against Trump rather than run against them.

Ron DeSantis and Ted Cruz endorse this message.

The trickle is all soaked up by the corporate multinationals that donate so very heavily to both parties. It doesn't go to private business, Mom or Pop businesses, nor does it even go to the upper middle class, let alone any of the rest of us. And therein resides the failure of trickle down.

But the bigger issue is just one of simple truths. Corporations...or even small business owners for that matter...don't hire people just because they got a tax cut. Just like they don't give raises just because they got a tax cut.

They hire when they have a demand for product to sell and need workers to make it.

And people who are already rich don't need much of anything to expect them to spend their tax cuts on basic goods that drive economic growth. They're way more apt to dump it into savings to further build their wealth.

RE: 2026 Midterm Elections Open Thread
I made a comment that the ads for Georgia and Texas I was seeing while watching Texas play on ESPN and ABC (while living in Georgia-nearly all political ads) made it seem like the Democrats viewed it as a turnout election. Their ads only appealed to the hardcore Democrats. Well they were right with regards to Georgia. They turned out 40-50% in blue counties while the Republicans only got 25-35% in the red counties in Georgia. I had gotten a text about 6:45 encouraging me to vote saying the turnout was not nearly what the Republicans needed.

There's a lot of truth in that, but you forget one thing. The money dumped into savings (of whatever type) is immediately turned over to finance new investments and businesses. It continues to push economic growth in any financial vehicle they stash their money in.

Lower taxes mean higher profit margins which means marginal sales are profitable. So it leads to higher employment.

It has. Employment levels are at an ALL TIME HIGH.

Wages are not, and I'll concede that. Unemployment is at all time lows though.

I hate seeing employment thrown out like its some end all be all. Don't get me wrong it's great that it's low but what percentage of the employed are working for at or near minimum wage? That would be a better metric.

Lower taxes=higher profit margins which should equal either cheaper goods or better pay for employees, but as stated above only the CEOs and shareholders see those gains.

Eh, it has though. Employment’s not the issue, it’s either underemployment or wages just not matching inflation.

I hope conservatives learned this go-round that basically saying “sorry poors” is a bad way of handling the cost of living issue many are facing. Should they realize that, and acknowledge/address it over the next 2-4 years, I’m sure there’d be some votes in play.

Ok and? The Dems will fix none of that anymore than the GOP will. All any of them do is fatten their own wallets.

That’s why I’m not in politics. I see people who vote Dem struggling financially and I just point, laugh, and say keep voting blue. Won’t get any sympathy from me. And damn sure won’t get a $1 if you ask.

Only 15-20% of people 25+ are making less than $15 an hour, which is about half of what it was just four years ago.

Your second paragraph is spot on.

Ok and I didn't say that they would did I? Just stating why employment isn't an end all be all metric for the health of the economy.

The "win so big they can't claim its rigged" crowd won, big. I think the closest you'll see calls of shenanigans will be in Alaska and Mississippi given they're close. As for chest thumping... I think we're all too exhausted.

The Mississippi Senate race is a major surprise of particular note. That a Dem could run that effectively ...

The stunner for me was *every* statewide non judicial election in Texas went blue. Every one of them.

I think you have to go back to 92 for *any* Dem to win *any* statewide contest. Literally a dry spell of 34 years for any statewide Dem ended with a literal running the table…..

Investments aren’t being made in people at the F500 level, right now they are feeling out how investment in AI tokens let them support growth with their current staff and weighing future layoffs.

Agentic AI, giving a LLM guardrails and an execution space so it can access data and systems on the internal network, is in the early stages outside of writing code but it has absolutely become “do more with fewer people” for SWE orgs and will also replace growth is many white collar professions.

Tax breaks just let them buy more tokens. Buying more tokens means that OpenAI and Anthropic can pay Nvidia and Broadcom, who are putting together 11 figure financing packages so they can buy their AI hardware.

They hire when they have a demand for product to sell and need workers to make it.

And people who are already rich don't need much of anything to expect them to spend their tax cuts on basic goods that drive economic growth. They're way more apt to dump it into savings to further build their wealth.

Lower taxes mean higher profit margins which means marginal sales are profitable. So it leads to higher employment.

But. It. Hasn't.

That’s why I’m not in politics. I see people who vote Dem struggling financially and I just point, laugh, and say keep voting blue. Won’t get any sympathy from me. And damn sure won’t get a $1 if you ask.

The U.S. unemployment rate is 4.2% (as of September 2026), which is low by historical standards—below the long-term historical average of about 5.65%—though up from its recent 50-year low of 3.4% in April 2023.

Doh! Biden did it better. Or Dementia patient #1 did it better than Dementia patient #2

I also haven't seen much chest-thumping from the lefties. That's a positive too.

That's a stunner, too.
