I live in a no excuse city when it comes to hockey. We average over 21,000 attendance per game which is the highest in hockey every year, and at one point went something like 16 years selling out every single game. We have 41 regular season home games per year, plus 5 exhibition games. The average ticket price is $90 USD, and season ticket holders have to buy tickets to the exhibition games at the full price. At one point there was a 20 year wait list for season tickets.
When we played a road playoff game in 2010, 21,000 tickets to our HOME arena were sold in an hour to watch the game on a giant screen.
South Carolina mostly sucks but still averages 80,000 per game when they go 4-8. Nashville...frigging NASHVILLE is the 3rd most expensive place to watch a game in the entire NHL and average over 17,000 per game.
Our fans have so many excuses it is ridiculous. Games aren't played on the same street they live on, and they have to drive 30 minutes or more to games, games aren't on campus, are downtown, are in the Pinch neighborhood with nothing else to do, traffic leaving the stadium/arena, games against not great opponents, no stars on the team, bad weather, church, high school football, no parking, ticket prices, the cost of concessions, the cost of food and drinks on Beale, the coach isn't good, the coach isn't nice, the conference sucks, crappy music on the PA system, don't like the Ashley Furniture commercials, too many ads during timeouts, PA system is too loud, don't like PA announcer, helmet stickers, heat, cold, rain, not wanting to spend the day/night at a game when the weather is perfect, youth soccer, the bathrooms, the scoreboard showing a couple singing Rocky Top, the sirens, poor sound quality, no chairbacks, portable chairbacks going up $5 per game in price, Tiger Lane prices going up $200, The Grizzlies, the circus, flat screen tv's...
I've never seen anything like it.
You left out had to work 12 hours in an office.
Yeah --the guy from way up north always pointing fingers/blaming others--his M.O.---when I lived away from the MEMPHIS area --years 94-99-in Augusta--years 2000-08 in Myrtle Beach---I still had season tickets and still attended many many games . WHAT'S HIS EXCUSE .
He was at a hockey game
Montreal- the die hard sports town. Fans so passionate that the Expos moved to DC
Some posters will be mad because I am being mean to you and your clown friends.
Montreal
- Hockey hotbed with 21,000 attendance at every game, every year, even if the team sucks, which it often does
- NOT a baseball hotbed
Memphis
- Alleged basketball hotbed, and fans making every single excuse under the sun
Not only do you stop going to games and not renew season tickets, you stop watching on tv every single January because (according to you) we suck and we will be lucky to make the NIT. Our games cause so much distress to your mental state of mind and digestive system, that you can't even watch them on tv. Yes, you sure are "passionate," good God.
If you were smarter, I wouldn't have to be so "mean." Sorry for offending other posters for being such a meanie.
