New Bearcat record. NINE draft picks!

Blew through the record of 6...I'm pretty sure we set a G5 draft record with 7, and are going to end up in the Top 3 as far as drafted players this year. Just insane, and cannot be understated howuch this is going to help us on the recruiting trail.
Fickell's first full class of players...and he sends 9 to the league. 9 guys drafted is the most by any "non-Power" school in the modern draft era...this+CFP+P5 Invite+Fickell Extension/turning down every major program in the country=Moonshot for UC Football.

Damn straight! Just wait until we land our first 5 star stud - it's coming with our entry to the B12. NFL teams took notice of not only talented players on our roster, but dudes with high football IQ and on/off the field character thanks to Coach Big Fick and the staff. I'm just fuggin' giddy right now! Half-empty monolith, cold concrete Nippert Stadium and a football program with barely a pulse in 1986 to this. Just unreal. Unreal.
Building a top 10 football program!

Fickell has had 17 players drafted into the NFL since starting at UC, including 13 in the last two years. The 17 players draft in the Fickell Era account for 1/3 of all Bearcats drafted since 1989.

Next year won't be as crazy, but I'd put our O/U at 3.5 right now. Whyle, Lenny, Cooper, Metz, Tunstall, O'Quinn, Tucker, Tyler Scott, Wil Huber, Hicks, Vann, Taylor, and Bush...have to guess there are a few out of that group who get a look based on the overall perception of the program now.
Dublanko signs as an UDFA with the Saints.

i'd take the over on that rn. All caveats apply regarding injuries but i think Whyle, Lenny, Van Fossen, and Huber can get drafted off of athleticism alone. if history has shown anything, teams are willing to take a flyer on players who show superior physical talent. i feel like those four pass the eyeball test. And i would be willing to bet that we get a few late round flyers, like Taylor, that could get us into the 5-6 player range.

Obviously, this is a make or break season for Vann. Myjai got drafted in the 3rd round and he got way more hype than Vann is getting coming into this season. it's entirely possible that there was a little too much hype that led to Myjai getting the overrated tag (i'm not in that camp as i thought he got held without the benefit of a flag WAY too much this season to have any chance of living up to the hype). So it's entirely possible that Vann creating his own buzz through his on-field performance is a better tract for him anyway. My personal opinion is he will get drafted one way or the other, all caveats apply, but it's whether he's day 2 or day 3.
Of our 9 guys drafted, only 2 are from Cincinnati (Bryan Cook and Darien Beavers). Only 2 were from the rest of the Tri-State (Coby Bryant, from Cleveland; Des Ridder, from Louisville).

Remnants of Tommy's recruiting strategy. That'll change in a significant way going forward i imagine.

Only one of the other 5 was recruited by Tubs (Curtis Brooks, from the hotbed of Cincinnati DL, Danville, VA)

Pierce from Chicago
Gardner from Detroit
Myjai from Jacksonville, FL
Ford from Tampa, FL.

Really, when looking at Fickell's recruiting strategy, you really should look at the 'State of Cincinnati', 200 miles from the city.

It’s pretty clear right now it is Ohio, Chicago, Detroit, GA,FL, Philly and NJ/MD.

Yep...there will be the random one-offs from somewhere else, but that's where our roster will be coming from. The '23 class is following that right now...5 from Ohio, 2 from Detroit, 1 from the DMV
UC recruiting under Fickell's leadership just seems laser focused on needs and specific markets. His staff, like most in college football, is a passing parade so he's truly been the man with the plan who took UC to the semi-finals. In my wildest dreams, I never imagined UC could break that glass ceiling.

I contrast that with middle to lower tier B10 programs that appear to lack such focus. IU and PU don't seem to even be able to circle the wagons around Indianapolis high school football where UC had made hay.

Arrogance doesn't befit our program as the new kid on the block in the Big 12 and I'd never suggest UC will dominate that conference day one. But give Fickell continued recruiting at this level and a pass through his new opponents for a cycle or two and I think it's at least plausible. People scoffed at Brian Kelly after his first pass through the Big East suggesting he now knew what it would take to win the conference and he followed up by doing just that. And he was never committed to being here the way Fickell has been.

Purdue seems to have absolutely no plan at all on the recruiting side of things at the moment...they came by Cincinnati and offered something like 30 guys in the last couple of weeks, including some players who have absolutely no shot at becoming FBS caliber players.
Thought this was a really cool video on Rid's Pro Day - from mid April/pre-draft. Apologize in advance if it was already posted...

Yeeesh. That’s big time money right there.
