ODU football is popular in that Hampton Roads area and it has a reputation of "its such a small stadium." Once they build a bigger complex, people are going to be coming from every direction. The possibilities are endless as long as the Monarchs keep winning...

When are they going to start building the new stadium anyways? Doesnt it take like 2 years to build?

Talking like sorority girls? Like, totally no way! We'll have the stadium built soooooo much faster.

Gag Me With a Spoon

This stadium is going to be so FETCH!

Stop trying to make Fetch happen, Gretchen. It is not going to happen.

Sheesh, it only took two days for someone to take the bait. Lol. 04-cheers

The stadium looks like it will happen. It appears that ODU has invested time and money into it.
I'm worried about the team that will call it home.
People will get tired of coming to see a losing team.
I have no faith in Wood or his football staff.
I found it interesting that once Wood left WKU, they started winning again.

They were an FBS transition team when he left. We are seeing now how hard that is.
LOL.

As Aaron Rodgers said, "R-E-L-A-X!"

These things take time. We will have our new stadium.

Are you saying that we're destined for a facemask-to-untimed hail mary combo in the new stadium?

This hurts me. They're lions and everything.

Well maybe if the defenders had tried to play the ball instead of blocking out WRs (with no interference being called) they might not have gagged on a big one!

Why would you think this?

1. They started talking about a new stadium when we had a 15,000 seat waiting list.

2. They started planning for it before the state of Va put the clamps on student fees paying for it.

3. It was planned before the P5 / G5 split. G5s seem to have smaller stadiums and draw in the 12,000 to 30,000 range. If P5s split away for good, theres no need for 30,000 seats.

4. The discussion started before ECU, Tulsa and Tulane bolted. ECU would have helped us guarantee another sell out each season.

Now, I think we still need a stadium for the amenities, suites, bathrooms, seats, legroom, scoreboard etc. But is it worth the money, time, land etc? We'll see. I have a suspicion they are stalling to see what happens next with realignment. CUSA is not the ACC, and its barely in the neighborhood of the AAC.

This actually would make a lot of sense given the countless missed deadlines/lack of any information we've seen since all this was announced.

The constant struggle to sell out in our current stadium has to make people nervous.

You boys really hate reality.
I'm gonna continue to call it as I see it. I said no bowl game and lookie at what happened.
Sorry ass coaching.
With BW behind the wheel, ODU won't compete and will continue to lose and lose even more recruits to other colleges.

Bashing my every comment ain't gonna make our program better.
I'm a realist. ODU better not spend that money on a stadium, but I guess on Saturdays during the fall the crickets will need a new place to be entertained.
I think we should build a 25k stadium with room to expand. ODU fans are fickle and if you all think they are going to show up for a terrible team then you haven't been following for very long.

C-USA stinks, which is the nicest way I can put it. I wish we were in the A-10 for hoops and the AAC for football. It's fun to dream!
This thread has gotten to a point that it's posts no longer have any connection to reality. I don't know what has people thinking that because ODU is coming off of a season in which they went 5-7, while they were still without a full comlement of FBS recruits, that it equates into not needing to build a new stadium.

GET A FREAKING GRIP!

We, ODU and it's fans, are building a football program. We are in it for the long haul. I sincerely hope that our administration is not as short sighted as many of you seem to be. The planning for, and building of our new football stadium is the single most important, and expensive, process ODU athletics has ever undertaken. ODU contracted one of the very best consulting firms to undertake the study which will lead to our new stadium. The study is going to be released soon. This no new stadium talk is ridiculous, the stadium will be built, and it will be awesome!

Playing in the AAC would be cool, but we need to compete and excell at the entry FBS level. ECU struggled in the AAC and they are far superior to us.
If next year looks like this past year, we won't stand a chance against real competition in the future. This past season the Offense didn't have a clue and it wasn't all Bentleys fault, just no scheme! That play book was full of empty pages! NC State came in and called us vanilla, App State proved it, and Marshall damn near did the same thing!
I would love to see a new beautiful stadium painted in Blue on Powhatan. If the team sucks over and over again under Wilder'so hand, somethings gotta give! Monarch Nation is used to winning and this past season, I saw less people in the stands, but they still said it was a sellout.

They need to focus on building a lethal football team. The talent is there, but where are the coaches?
25k seriously? I know every program has ups and downs but come on what are we getting by adding 5k seats with a minimum price tag of 70 Mil if that's the case add some ****** bleachers to the current one save pain for fundraising wing. I think we will go atleast 30K if we decide to build one and at that point we would be putting more butts in seats than any other 30 k stadium

ECU is playing a lot of the same teams they were already playing. they'll be fine...I compare us the KC royals of like 4 years ago. they acquired a lot of young talent and built an elite farm system and it paid off...guess what the most important part of that was? PATIENCE! we are building something. its not finished yet. BW and his staff know more about football than all of us. let them make some adjustments in the off season and lets see what happens next year.
