Yep. Could have charged a lot more than a quarter too!

Does it still work? I thought after the Shaka departure, it would need some heavy maintenance. Oh well, send it down I-64 immediately.
Filled out my survey.

My last line was simple

"Don't half-ass it"

lol! I just did mine as well and I said the exact same thing!
Yes, I do not want a blah cookie cutter stadium... Something unique to Old Dominion. Aesthetically pleasing. I think I heard someone say they want to incorporate the stadium arches into the new design? I'm on board with that. If there was a way to keep the clam shell design and still add "50yd line" suites I'd be all for that too.
Is a modern version of this out of the realm of possibilty?

Or is the consensus to get rid of the "Clam Shells" all together?
I mentioned an homage to the old stadium with maybe the arches and brick overlay in the shape of Foreman atop the larger structure.

So in other words, no clam shell but maybe a cap at the top of the stands to pay homage to the old structure?

Similar to this?

Please no homage.
Let’s not romanticize Foreman too much here folks. It has served us well and has seen some pretty great moments in Old Dominion history (football, field hockey, my graduation) but don’t forget that it is a relic of a bygone era. It was a WPA project to provide jobs in the Depression and has arguably served long pas what was originally envisioned. Sure there are design aspects that are great like the arches and the brick relief work on the exterior of the East and West stands but that is about where it ends. We can and should aspire to a better design for the new home of Monarch Football. TDECU Stadium at Houston (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TDECU_Stadium), Gerald J. Ford Stadium at SMU (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerald_J._Ford_Stadium), Yulman Stadium at Tulane (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yulman_Stadium), and Bright House Networks Stadium at UCF (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bright_Hou...ks_Stadium) are places we need to be looking to take inspiration from.

Couldn't agree more!
I'm guessing we'll see a design that incorporates both old and new. Rustic contemporary is what the architects call it, I think. Camden Yards comes to mind. Whatever it is, I have complete faith is our Admins to do it up right and make us all proud. Populus is about as well respected as can be found. The Ted shows our people know how to get it done right.
Hope we get a great Christmas present this year, even if it's just a rough draft.

Ok... Aesthetically, what would do it for you? If you could design the look and feel of the stadium, what would it look like? This question is not just for 83 Alumni... just interested in what our fanbase's aspirations are for the new stadium.

I want something modern like The Ted. Chair backs, or at the minimum bleach style metal back rests, at every seat, two large HD videoboards at each end of the field, as much technology (WiFi, cellular connectivity) as can feasibly be put into the place, and cover as many of the seats as possible.

I like the technology aspect, but I think more importantly is that it might not hold 100,000 seats but it needs to feel big time. A stadium with 30,000-35,000 can really feel like a big nice stadium if done right.

Well said. +2

UVA has done a good job implementing pergolas at JPG and Scott, tying the two together well with the rest of campus. I would like to see something at the new stadium that ties it in well to the Ted and the rest of campus.
People say that if we go higher than 30k we will not be able to fill the stadium. I just smh. How many more people do you think we could get in the stadium if we actually had bathrooms, concessions, alcohol sales and a much better fan experience. Not to mention we are going to have a good football team for years to come. We are at the highest level of college football, lets not sell ourselves short! We need 32,000+ seats.

I would like seating that went up high between the 35-35 yard lines as that is the area that has the best views in my book, comfortable seats, good walk around: ingress and engress areas. Nice concession areas and bathrooms.

+1
We have a few of the old W&M of Norfolk buildings left. Every building we have built since A&L has been modern "glass and steel". The new stadium needs to reflect who we are now, and not what we were in 1930.
