I thought the story was very good. I saw in 3D and I felt visuals, while enhanced felt pedantic becaues it reminded me way too much of Inception
The Manchurian Candidate/dvd
--wanted to watch something political LOL I really liked the depth of the plot and the planting of the memories and what not they got into. I think Denzel and Leiv really counterbalanced each other well.
Jaws 3 / NF
--Not quite as good as 1 and 2, but I liked the separation from the same beach and putting the kids to work at Sea World on the opposite side of the US. The dangers with the marine park were pretty cool. They definitely worked in that 3D lol.
Antman / BR
--Oddly, I liked it being overly comedic.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them / theater
--ehhh.... it was missing "the thing" to draw me in. And I don't think my opinion is colored by me being more attached to the Harry Potter series of movies. I didn't think the action was bad but somehow.... to bring the "Wzarding World" to the US... it felt flat to me...

--another one of my faves.
Zootopia/br
--my brother's copy, but it was actually pretty good. The humor and the plot twist were pretty spot on. The cgi was pretty good too.
Kubo / br
--my brother got this one too. I liked it, very cool animation style and story. I do think some of the main participants in the story could have had their plotline more fleshed out/ part of the story instead of a summation of the end of the movie.
The X Files S4 / NF
--IMO, this show is still hitting on all cylinders in this season. Some of the plot twists tieing up Cancer Man, Skinner, Skully, and Mulder and the hiding of what is really going on... really got "complicated..."
Batman 60's tv show S1 / BR
--Just really started watching it and I must say, the BR print for a 60s tv show is freaking amazing.... the clarity... the resolution....

I watched this over the weekend. I didn't mind that they brought the story to the US as it changed things up a bit-- offered new scenery. Plus it was pretty cool watching the movie in the landscape of 1920s NYC.
I have read that they have already signed on for four more movies in this series. Since Harry Potter canon indicates Albus Dumbledore and Gellert Grindelwald are due for an epic showdown my guess is will switch back to England.
Kickboxer: Vengeance / NF
--A pretty good homage, in modern cinema, to the original. Lots of subtle homages to the original and some decent fight choreography as well. JCVD as a trainer/master is pretty interesting. Bautista as the "new" Tong Po is interesting as the original TP was taller and more menacing but Bautista, IMO, fights more brutal in his style. Interesting they made the play for a more direct illeagal fighting ring with its allowing to happen being tied into a police payoff.
Kung Fu Killer/ NF
--A Donnie Yen star vehicle. A interesting way to begin the movie but basically a handicapped guy self trains into a master of sorts and sets out be the #1 martial artist in the area and thus starts serial killing via kung fu all the top masters. Donnie Yen, now an arrested convict, tries to help the police solve the case via his knowledge of killer.
Ip Man/ NF
--I guess this is some sort of historical film of someone named Ip and his teachings of Wing Chun kung fu. From what I gathered in the first one a town got its fame as the kung fu capital of the world and thus all these masters started setting up their own schools there. A group of outsiders comes to down taking down the masters to prove themselves as the best yet get stopped by Yen's character. I know they have a 2nd and 3rd movie in the series but I am not sure how badly I want to watch the sequels.
Jurassic World / BR
--Got it for $7. I won't say its bad movie but it had its issues with a almost remix of the original feel and then the forced parenting issues with the kids thrown in. Hopefully the improve upon the core elements in the 2nd one.
Mortal Kombat Legacy / BR
--Got it for $5. I kind of like the episodic break down on some of the fighters history in terms of their own personal ties to entering themselves into Mortal Kombat. The action/fighting scenes are great.

Truth be told I have liked each movie in the series for variously different reasons but I think the series has so far outgrown its "street racing" roots that its not even the same movie series anymore. I really think 6-7-8 are heat checks for the series... even though it appears they are doing 8-9-10 as some sort of trilogy of sorts to finish it off.
I liked most of the originals but I do think the most recent two are great movies to reboot the series with... This new one looks the most apocalyptic of the new ones and the closest to the turning point at which the Apes took over.

I saw it in IMAX 3D and thought it was visually spectacular. I thought Edwards did something better than the other SW movies have done, giving the audience a great feel for the scale of things like TIE fighter/Star Destroyer/Death Star. The 3rd act was worth the price of admission alone. They did a nice job of answering some lingering questions from IV (not gonna spoil it), and the movie does a nice job of setting up IV.
On the other hand, I did not like CGI Grand Moff Tarkin (and the other that I won't spoil). It's really good CGI, but to me it was obvious enough to be a distraction. And what the heck was Forest Whitaker doing with that wheezy high pitched voice?
It's a pretty grim movie and lacks the lightness of many of the earlier movies. Definitely not a movie for kids.
And while I liked most of the characters, I thought the way the Rebels interacted with each other was a little lacking. There was very little relationship development.
I really enjoyed it but I'd probably put it about 4th on my SW list.
