Getting ODU and UNCC in CUSA and even trying to get App State in CUSA while we were there. ODU for example really wasn't even on the fast track and he sped them all up and helped get them in CUSA quicker when he should have been blocking them to the Sun Belt.

There are only so many recruits as it is in NC and VA to go around for G5's, that oh by the way we nearly got all of them before. Now we have to compete for the same players we depend on and will lose some. That's a give and has already happened. If it's only 5 a year between all three, thats 25 players on the roster with the redshirt year that we have to find elsewhere now. Yeah buddy up with the threat to our programs.

He helped bring on schools with 85 scholarships instead of 63 and dozens more scholarships to recruit with the same pool of players we had been drinking at for decades and whats worse he helped give them equal conference standing no less to recruit with.

He was the anti Leo Jenkins where as Leo got us away from schools like this App States and little farts like this to give us separation and build and oh btw we never played them by design for 30 years (you think that was coincidence). Holland was wanting to surround our self with glorified southern conference if the AAC didn't work out. Even Charlotte fans were laughing and thought we were stupid. You don't help any potiental threats like this no matter how weak they look now. Its like the idiots that have a pet wolf. It's cute when it's little but it might kill your ass in a few years. If you stuck in a fence with it for the same resources you sure don't feed and help it.

It was even more dumb to do it before we had secured an AAC spot. Who's to say if things played out slower and ODU or UNCC beat us and came on to the scene fast like USF and we had a downturn things might have worked out differently. It was so dumb and it's dumb to even give them an OOC game to validate their little programs at this point.

Its just good business to try and get a 2-1 deal but if not a h&h is ok. I do not think it should be residual but occasionally sure. Its a win for our alumni in the area and fans can make the easy trip to easy ECU play an additional game.

Stop. This isn't charity, this is competitive sports where you have a pool of customers (fans) and are competing for the same employees (players). Hell it's big buisness straight up. You don't go help the business down the street because it's the nice thing to do or let it validate it'self to your customers (fans and recruiting pool). You ignore it and do what you do better and run it out of it business and hope it dies. That idealistic crap isn't real life and truth be told, UNC and NC State never playing us would be better for their program. That is reasonable logic.

When Charlotte gets a decent fanbase and some senators behind them then they can "encourage" us to play them like we did UNC and NC State.

That is a perfectly acceptable vantage point and you are welcome to it. I however do think there should be some connectivity within our state system. I do not have an issue with throwing a bone to another instate school. Its good karma and leverage if UNC or NCSU decides to be a b*tch again.

Rumor has it, that is part of the reason Terry Holland was supportive of UNCC's promotion to CUSA. Same thing with his campaigning for App St.

Just crap fans made up to cover Holland for potentially one of the dumbest moves in ECU history. Those schools don't give a $hit who else we schedule or try to help out.

Actually that's straight out of Holland's mouth (or email). There was a political element involved with that talk.

Nah, I understand.

I also understand it from the coach's perspective though. Charlotte has a lot of football talent and ECU doesn't really have much of a presence in this city from what I've seen (and I've lived here for 25 of my 28 years).

I can see why he'd be willing to sign a H&H to get a game in the city.

If we want to play in Charlotte, we'll do a neutral game. Like we have done in the past.

As for football, I don't think it would be wise for us to play at Charlotte until you get your stadium expanded. 15K is too small and BofA is probably too big.

I agree that we should have a yearly H&H in basketball though.

Fwiw we still don't have any business signing a 1 and 1 but I'd be OK with uncc on schedule.

Posted from my mobile device using the CSNbbs App

UNCC on the schedule is completely different than a home and home. Thats unacceptable.

Not home and home. Wouldn't mind playing UNCC in Greenville. Similar to our relationship with App St. I wouldn't even mind a very infrequent game in Panther stadium. I believe most of our games should be in Greenville.

I like having one FCS team per year I think this years schedule is ideal for the non conference. One game you should win, three games that are tough but some are winnable.

Some of you guys are hilarious. Remember, you guys were one recent move away from being in the same conference with us and HAVING to play us. In fact, if we would have moved a little faster starting to play (we decided on it in ~2007) you would have played us before you left C-USA. You are a very nice Football program, but you're not Alabama. If we play, it WILL be a H/H and our home game will be at an expanded Richardson Stadium.

Just curious as I work really close to your stadium. How many fans are you guys drawing right now? I'm considering going to the JMU game.

And you will find an ECU fanbase that will be LIVID.

We weren't happy about trying to add a school that had never played football when we were in CUSA in the first place.

We pull in >15,000.

The JMU game is homecoming, so that game will definitely be sold out.

Our stadium often looks kind of empty in the endzone because the concourse is huge and you can stand up between the 30's and get a great view of the field. There are no rules preventing this right now, so there is really no way to make people stay in their seats. A lot of people have also been trying to escape the heat, but since we have no upper levels at the moment, there is no shade in our stadium at kickoff. It is absolutely miserable when it is over 90 degrees.

We've kind of screwed ourselves a bit because a lot of people in the community think they can't buy single game tickets because Judy Rose made it clear for 3 years that if you didn't buy a seat license you wouldn't be able to get tickets to the games. I've met so many people that say they want to go to games, but didn't buy a seat license so they can't. Sometimes I just roll my eyes at the negative marketing we do for ourselves.

I'm not as anti UNCC as some of the ECU folks, but at the same time you should remember that UNCC is only in CUSA because of ECU's leveraging and you haven't even played a down of FBS football yet so I highly doubt UNCC will be dictating much of anything.

Yes, that is the ONLY reason (C-USA followed explicit orders from ECU to let us in and gave ECU veto powers to keep us out if you wanted to 03-lmfao ) and you forget that Charlotte (Charter member of C-USA) helped get ECU in to C-USA the first time----into what was a strong Basketball FIRST league at the time. How soon they forget.

Yeah, probably time to close it at this point before it gets worse.

I almost didn't post it because I thought some of the ECU fans might get pissed off, but decided I would just to see if anyone here had heard anything about this from the ECU side.

You guys had a much better foundation to come into CUSA on though. I'm optimistic, but I think the next two years are going to be kind of rough.

Please handle Marshall and keep the NC pride going, Marshall fans are so intolerable. It will be rough, but the best thing going for Charlotte is her city atmosphere and I am sure recruits and students have already came to recognize this. Charlotte will continue to grow and flourish.

I just don't get how you think Marshall fans are intolerable. Have you ever been to a game in Huntington?

I don't believe it...unless the expansion to 40K is scheduled...otherwise the game would have to be in the Panthers stadium.

However, I could see ECU bringing in Charlotte to DFS for a 1 game buy.

Once Charlotte has 40K...I can see it...similar to our recent H & H with Marshall.

I also understand it from the coach's perspective though. Charlotte has a lot of football talent and ECU doesn't really have much of a presence in this city from what I've seen (and I've lived here for 25 of my 28 years).

I can see why he'd be willing to sign a H&H to get a game in the city.

We have played WVU, NCSU, USC, and VT in Charlotte at BOA we bring in the 30,000 range of fans. I think we are in the Charlotte news media as much UNCC; I am not sure how playing Charlotte in Charlotte will help us when Charlotte does not even capture the local news media attention...for selfish reasons I like it when the Pirates play in Charlotte. Y'all will be outnumber 2 to 1 if we came to BOA.

I think we are in the Charlotte news media as much UNCC; I am not sure how playing Charlotte in Charlotte will help us when Charlotte does not even capture the local news media attention...for selfish reasons I like it when the Pirates play in Charlotte. Y'all will be outnumber 2 to 1 if we came to BOA.
youre wrong on all counts.......surely you dont actually believe these things. ECu s almost no coverage inCharlotte . we get more football coverage here than any otber school. its not even close.
