RE: ECU Fans....
It's not a slap in chalottes face to not want to play home and home. Your stadium is way too small. ECU has been at the highest level of college football since before I was born. We had to fight tooth and nail to get teams into greenville. We played tons of games on the road and had terrible home schedules with only 5 games at home. Hell, as recent as 2008 we only had 5 home games. I think Charlotte needs to pay it's dues before we consider anything better than a 3-1 or some hybrid with BOA involved too.

There is nothing wrong with playing a buy in game or having lopsided home and away series. ODU did a buy out game with us last year. App has done buy out games with us. Sh*t ECU just did a buy out game with Florida. We have a lopsided series with USC currently. I'm not sure why Charlotte fans thing they should get H&H series or nothing. The bigger programs get better deals and right now ECU is the bigger program. Give it some years and build up your team and stadium and the H&H will follow

Nah, I understand.

I also understand it from the coach's perspective though. Charlotte has a lot of football talent and ECU doesn't really have much of a presence in this city from what I've seen (and I've lived here for 25 of my 28 years).

I can see why he'd be willing to sign a H&H to get a game in the city.

We have played WVU, NCSU, USC, and VT in Charlotte at BOA we bring in the 30,000 range of fans. I think we are in the Charlotte news media as much UNCC; I am not sure how playing Charlotte in Charlotte will help us when Charlotte does not even capture the local news media attention...for selfish reasons I like it when the Pirates play in Charlotte. Y'all will be outnumber 2 to 1 if we came to BOA.
youre wrong on all counts.......surely you dont actually believe these things. ECu s almost no coverage inCharlotte . we get more football coverage here than any otber school. its not even close.

I live in Charlotte, that is absolutely 150 million percent WRONG

so do I and its 100% true. ECU gets almost no coverage here. Charlotte football is normally story #1 on the local sports news on Saturday and we are the only school with a designated beat writer st the Observer.

It's just false man. Not the ECU part. But UNCC does not get any more coverage than the ACC and the SEC. They just don't. They may have a beat writer, but they're right on par in terms of published material as UNC, State, USC, and East Carolina.

It's equal.

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/college_football/

Right here.

I found the first UNCC Football article after looking at 4 ECU headlines, 2 UNC headlines, 2 State Headlines, an App State headline, and a USC headline. Also mentions of Duke before anything UNCC.

You're just wrong.

Hover over the "Sports" tab. They don't even label College Football as "49ers/College Football" like they do "Panthers/NFL" "Hornets/NBA" "Knights/Baseball" and "Checkers/Hockey" it's just "College Football"

I'm sorry and I respect what UNCC has done and is doing considering the tough landscape, but not as many people care about UNCC in Charlotte as you want to think they do.

ECU will not, under any circumstances, play UNCC in the on campus stadium any time soon. I can certainly, without any doubt see a matchup at Dowdy within the next 6-10 years. BofA is very unlikey as well. UNCC just isn't there yet. I have strong hope and a very strong feeling that they will be. I, however, think that it won't be for at least 10 years, and even that may be closer to 15.

do y'all have a University city edition of the paper? just wondering because UNCC football just does not jump out in my south charlotte edition of the paper....whatever, I think ECU is much more concerned with having every game nationally/regionally televised than if the Charlotte Observer picks up the game article.

You guys had a much better foundation to come into CUSA on though. I'm optimistic, but I think the next two years are going to be kind of rough.

Please handle Marshall and keep the NC pride going, Marshall fans are so intolerable. It will be rough, but the best thing going for Charlotte is her city atmosphere and I am sure recruits and students have already came to recognize this. Charlotte will continue to grow and flourish.

I just don't get how you think Marshall fans are intolerable. Have you ever been to a game in Huntington?

Have you ever been on CUSABBS?

A few nutbags on an internet board doth not equate to a fanbase. To bad you have never been to a game in Huntington.

AGREED! I have never been to a game @ The Joan, BUT I have had some WOMDERFUL IMTERACTIONS here in Greenville, tailgating with Marshall Fans! I fully intend to make our 2021 game in Huntington, as everyone I know that has been to a game up there has RAVED about the MU folks' hospitality!

We ALL have "those fans", whether it be on message boards OR at games.....and I hope NONE of us are judged as a whole by "those fans"! It does a GREAT DISSERVICE to our respective Institutions, Fan Bases, and Communities to do so.

RE: ECU Fans....
The point is, people want to make this seem like this is some condescending thread or something. I personally, am not trying to act that way and it isn't the intention under any circumstances on my end.

My perspective is that I've LIVED it. My whole life. I've lived the agony of being a Pirate fan since day 1 as the kid of 2 alumni, being an alumni myself, and preparing a young one to head out East myself. I, like the rest of us, have lived having to watch the program claw, chew, and fight for the little we've got and get nothing for it. I'm strictly talking out of reality here.

It's just the way it is, it's about money. There is no money to be made playing that game there. We'd pay more money to bus the players, band (if they'd fit), and staff there then we would getting any revenue for the game. And that doesn't even BEGIN the level of expenses we'd have to pay for a game like that. That's just transportation! It makes absolutely no business sense to travel to a 15,000 seat stadium as opposed to play AT HOME in front of 50,000.

If UNCC doesn't like that, then unfortunately there are plenty of other out of conference opponents that would be perfectly willing to come to Greenville.

Growing a football program in North Carolina is NOT an easy thing to do. Ask us, ask App, ask Wake, ask State (even though Raleigh goes a long way, it hasn't been as easy for them), ask anyone that isn't flagship. It isn't a 5 year thing. We started playing football in 1932 and this is THE FARTHEST WE'VE GOTTEN. It's the way it is.

You guys are too funny. Charlotte has a football article in the Observer most days of the week during the football season. No one else comes close. I never said we get more than the COMBINED acc or sec, but the most of any single school by far. Anyone saying otherwise is not being truthful. Sorry. Also, I personally don't care if we play ECU at all, but our coach just said last night that we are "in discussions with ecu for a h and h". Lambert is a straight shooter. if he said it, then it is being discussed. You guys better tell Ruffin how crazy he is.

No problems playing Charlotte H & H as long as we only have 1 or 2 non P5 teams OOC. Of course we would want to squeeze as many home games in for ourselves. So if we could get a 2 for 1 I would love it because - hey, more home games! Our football programs are too far apart to build a "rivalry" right now so I wouldn't want to make it a every year thing.

I'm sorry man. But UNCC doesn't get as much space in the Observer as the ACC does. They just don't. Explain to me, then, the situation on the College Football page of the Observer right now. What's on the page now, for the most part, is what's hitting press tomorrow morning. I just don't understand...I read the damn paper every morning and you're wrong. Just accept it. I'm not even speaking about ECU right now.

No idea if it is true or not as I don't look at the news and disturber regularly, but he is saying as a single school UNCC gets more press coverage from that newspaper than any single ACC school. Not the ACC as a whole.

Frankly, all of North Carolina's public FBS teams should be playing each other on a regular basis... and ECU is not known for it's snobbery and "better than you attitude"; I'll leave that to the Pack's fans (especially since the UNC game is one which many of the Tarheel supporters seem to enjoy... the same can be said for VPI's UBER-CLASSY FANS).

If we are not willing to play Charlotte and App State on the road, then there's no way in hell that we should argue that hosting NCSU and Chapel Hill in Greenville is good for all of North Carolina.

We can play App only in Greenville until they get to at least 35K seats; then we can do home-and-homes. We can play Charlotte home-and-home now... just not at Richardson stadium until they expand to at least 35K.

They definitely have a good fan following, but The exposure we would get in Charlotte would be a 100 times better than that in Boone.
